Be guided by an Archaeologist to discover the ancient Roman town of Herculaneum destroyed by the 79 AD eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
Herculaneum was the best holiday destination for the Roman aristocracy, a small chest full of miracles as Romans stated. In its private residences and public buildings were found marble decorations, wall paintings, mosaic floors as well as objects implemented in the everyday life. Also called 'the sister of Pompeii', this city shows you some better preserved findings like wooden doors and exquisite paintings.
With an Archaeologist leading you through the site sharing his knowledge and telling you interesting anecdotes, you'll get the feeling to be walking in a still living town!

Giulio was extremely knowledgeable, patient and friendly in displaying and explaining the history and details of events, artifacts and cultures. I recommend this tour. Read a bit beforehand and it will be even better.

Herculaneum is a fascinating place to visit and was made even better with Anna our hugely knowledgable and engaging guide. Anna being an experienced Archaeologist brought the ruins to life and explained the tragedy following the eruption of Vesuvius. We were glad we visited Herculaneum as well as Pompeii, it is much smaller but with some unique features and it feels a more intimate experience.

We had a wonderful private tour of Herculaneum with tour guide Sara. She is an archaeologist with a deep knowledge of both Herculaneum and Pompeii and a clear love and passion for these awesome ruins.
She was full of interesting facts and pointed out lots of things that we would easily have missed. We would highly recommend her!

This was the trip of a lifetime for me and a special experience for my adult grandson. We both have read quite a bit about Herculaneum, Pompeii, and the Roman Empire, and it was thrilling to see Herculaneum for ourselves. Our guide was both gracious and informative. At the end of our tour we were allowed to wander a bit by ourselves and to visit the two nearby museums.

Herculaneum was buried by volcanic ash spewed by Mt Vesuvius during its eruption during the Roman Empire. The city is buried under 16 meters (52 feet) of ash. Herculaneum is not as well-known as nearby Pompeii, but it is worth exploring the site that is revealed by archaeologists. Herculaneum was popular in ancient times for its location by the coast and its mild and sunny weather. It's not far from Naples; Mt Vesuvius is full of foreboding. This site in southwestern Italy is a favorite destination for visitors.

Definitely a great tour and the only way to learn about ancient site. Our tour guide Daniela was fantastic and so knowledgeable!!!! I have done these tours before and without the guide we were just looking at ruins. But with guide we did so much more. The private tour allowed us to learn so much about ancient life as well as the structures, purposes and what they looked like. Worth the extra cost. Herculaneum is smaller but better preserved than Pompeii.

Luciano was a great guide for our family visit to Herculaneum. He was great at bringing things alive for our two boys aged 8 and 12 and was hugely knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
