Experience Budapest’s alternative culture and underground art on a small-group cultural walking tour. Learn about Budapest’s street art, architecture and graffiti scene, and see one of the most original alternative sites. You’ll uncover Budapest's fascinating underground cultural life on this small-group walking tour, and see hidden places like the synagogues in the Jewish quarter. The tour also visits street art galleries and fashionable coffee shops and bars.

Alternative Budapest shows visitors not the usual sights, monuments and historical landmarks that other tours show you, but takes you deeper, further and more underground. Our tours aren't about the past, they're about what's happening now.

Loved this tour. Our guide was a fabulous young woman (whose name escapes me). She was both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her subject matter. The tour was completely unique. She brought us to an amazing Ruin bar, showed us moving and emotive sites, showed us around craft shops, introduced us to murals, and advised us where to dine. You must do this tour is you want the inside scoop on Budapest

Petra gave us an incredible insight into parts of Budapest that we would not have found on our own. Petra’s knowledge about culture and history was outstanding. We were totally engaged every step of the way. We highly recommend this tour with Petra. Our only regret is that we didnt do the tour sooner so that we could revisit some of the local design shops. Thank you so much Petra .

We learned so much about the history of Budapest through the different street art. It was interesting to see how the city celebrates various populations as well as how Western culture connected with Hungary following the end of Communism.

We booked a private walking tour. Our original booking had to be rescheduled due to a travel delay and the tour company was incredibly accommodating.

We met with Bogati and instantly felt welcome and at ease in her company. She spoke to us about art, architecture, literature and history, enthusiastically engaging with all of our questions.

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who has an interest in the above topics as we learnt so much that would never have been possible otherwise during our visit.

During the walk I mentioned I'd like to read more about Hungarian lived experiences during the 20th century, and she took us to a lovely independent bookstore where she spoke with the staff who were able to recommend some titles for me.

She was professional yet super approachable. It felt like I was walking with a friend.

Thank you Bogati for a very memorable experience.

Our guide started by asking my friend and I what our expectations of the walking tour was, given that it was just the two of us who had booked on to the walk for that day.

We were taken around the Jewish district, stopping of at points of interest and taking in the street art and monuments.

Our guide was funny and really interesting - and also asked us questions about life in the UK. Despite the cold weather, the two and a half hours went quickly and before we knew it we were at our last destination - the ruin bar - enjoying a couple of glasses of wine!

I'd definitely recommend this tour for something a little bit different.

If you are interested in street art, grafitti, urban art, underground art, this is the tour you do not want to miss. It is informative. You also learn a lot on the 7th district also known as the yewish quartier. Today, the 7th district is burstling with life / cultural life. This is demonstrated with huge wall paintings that are very beautiful. Moreover, they provide an interesting view on today’s Hungary. This is shown in a tour that is guided by a very enthusiastic guide.

Took this walking tour on our first afternoon in Budapest. Great way to see some off-the-beaten path stuff. Our guide, Tamàs, was friendly, informative, answered all our questions. Kept it at a comfortable pace in very hot weather. The 3 hours flew by. We only had one other person in our group (3 total). We saw some cool murals in Elizabeth District, ruin bars, a printing shop, and scouted out a good restaurant for later that night. Highly recommend this tour.
