My wife and I booked a private tour with Huyen and we could not have felt more looked after or well informed. From the good comms ahead of time through to the timely pick up, the trouble free journey to the Delta and the great visit to the Delta itself. Huyen was a very entertaining host, very open too and very caring. We enjoyed everywhere we visited and the various transport involved was great fun. It is quite a long day (from HCMC), but with Huyen it really didn't feel like that. Would recommend.

The tour is really worth taking. We weren't sure originally about visiting some stops like brick factory or coconut sweets shop, but our guide Thien had so much interesting to tell and to explain that it makes all stops a valuable experience. And you are not pressured to buy - though we couldn't resist the sweets. She also included our wishes like not seeing the snake wine (due to phobia of snakes) or stopping to stretch our legs when driving the long distance to Mekong delta/ back to the city. Lunch was nice and a lot to eat - some options for tourists who are not yet used to vietnamese kitchen and some introduction in local, simple staples.

We had a great day with Huyen, our tour guide. She was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. I loved the stories she told us; they brought the tour to life! She had a great relationship with all the people at each stop - this made it feel good to support these local businesses. Overall the experience was super personal and lovely!

Following advice from friends we canceled our cruise ship organized tour and chose to go with withlocals.com
We quickly discovered this was an excellent choice.
Huyen was a fabulous guide. She is super friendly and helpful and with her great sense of humour she kept us amused during our drive to the Mekong Delta.
Huyen has so much local knowledge of Ho Chi Minh city and also of the Mekong, as she grew up there. What better guide could you have, but a local of the Mekong Delta?
We experienced many forms of transportation- each a delight in itself. After the super comfortable minivan drive to the Delta, where we saw the amazing brick works, we transfered to a river boat with tasty fruit delights, followed by a motorcycle chariot ride to see local mat making, and finally a tranquill ride in a sanpan, to our delightful lunch restaurant, and a delicious meal.
Huyen's driver, Joe, managed the traffic so well that we returned to our cruise ship via short-cuts, while other cruise ship passengers were held up in major traffic jams resulting in much later arrivals at the ship, and a great amount of wasted time.
Thank you so much Huyen and Joe for a fantastic experience all round on the Mekong Delta.

We did the Mekong Delta tour with Thien. First we got many information and recommendations from her via phone (Whatapp). This was easy and very helpful.
We were picked up in the morning at our hotel. The following quite long drive out of the city wasn‘t boring at all because Thien told us a lot about Vietnam, the country, the people, everything. At no time we had the impression of listening to a lecture. It was like talking to a friend! Don’t be scared about the long drive! Far away from all other tourists we visited some very impressing local people, very nice places and saw what the people are doing and how they are living. Thien knows them all and really respects them, this is why you get a very close impression. Thank you for that! Thien is a born guide! She is open, very friendly and authentic! Don‘t doubt to book her!

Awesome day with Tu. Loved the variety of the trip - it was never dull as we experienced so many different things. The kayak was the highlight for us along with lunch. Amazing food served in a very hygienic and peaceful location. Tu is exceptional - speaks amazing English, is super knowledgeable and has a great sense of humour. We would strongly recommend Tu and this trip. Enjoy!

We opted for the privately guided tour of the Mekong Delta away from the tourist crowds with THIEN and can 100% recommend it to everyone!
We were picked up on time at the hotel and drove a little further into the Mekong Delta than the usual day tours. The car journey flew by as we were able to have a great conversation with Thien and had a lot of fun with her. She speaks very good English, the best of any guide during our Vietnam tour! During this tour we were able to learn so much about Vietnam and life there, Thien patiently answered every question. Thien has a very good relationship with the locals, which made the trip so unique!
During the tour we only met a few small groups of tourists at the beginning, and even these were skillfully avoided. For example, we sat with the owners of the brick factory under their house as they prepared for their working day and watched the hustle and bustle on the river together, that alone was a great experience. In the meantime, the other tour group that was present quickly worked through their program and then disappeared again without ever getting into a conversation with the locals. Thien also gave us lots of tips for great vacation photos and took lots of great photos of us.
Lunch in a family-run shady garden was excellent, varied and more than enough. You are also asked about any intolerances in advance and the meal is tailored to suit. We also used the time during lunch to talk to Thien and have a lot of laughs.
The stops and visits were very interesting and varied, as were our means of transport: on water we traveled in three different boats and on land we even traveled in a tuk-tuk. This meant that we never had to take the same route back and we were never bored!
The price for the tour is more than justified! We were assured that the places we visited were paid fairly for it and you can tell: we were never pressured to buy anything. With the other cheap providers, the pushy pressure to buy is unfortunately necessary in order to survive on tourism.
We hope everyone who books this tour with Thien has as much fun as we did!

We booked a trip to the Mekong Delta with Thien and it did not disappoint. She is a fabulous guide. We really enjoyed the lively conversation with her as well as the locals we met on the tour. With locals is a great way to really see the local culture and avoid the tourist groups.
