So much food …. Lots of walking around the neighborhood . Very chatty and full of information. It was a hot day and we tried to walk in the shade to stay cool

We had a great time with June! She was a very energetic and knowledgeable guide. Waking the markets with her was so nice as she gave us background knowledge on the items we were seeing. I would highly recommend doing this tour as you will get to see things from more of a locals perspective.

This tour was a lot of fun and we really learned a lot about the food and the area. Judy was very knowledgeable and helped us to adjust the foods we tried to our preferences. Though we didn't have any food allergies, my daughter does not like fish so we avoided the dishes that had fish and focused on only pork and chicken. We also got to try a lot of different foods that can only be found in Taiwan. From braised pork to pineapple bread to of course bubble tea! My biggest recommendation is to bring a recycle bag or plastic bag to collect all of the treats and only take bites as you go. We ate too much at the beginning and so by the end we just took a bite and saved the rest for later, like the dumplings and the sweet potato balls. We were sad that we were so fully by the time we reached the shaved ice that we could only eat half. But really worth the time and money to take this tour!!

Jones was a great guide. Good information about the foods. Excellent variety of foods that were all delicious. Also stopped at some interesting stores selling Taiwan made products. We were stuffed by the end and also had plenty of snacks to take home for later.

We were meet by our lovely guide Julie who was so knowledgeable about the area, local food and the history of Taiwan. We were given an excellent tour around the food market tasting some of the vegetarian food and dishes. Love the health benefits of the black mushrooms etc. We visited many food shops tasting delicious dumplings, fish balls, sweet potato leaves steamed etc. we sampled some beautiful local tea as well.
I highly recommend this tour and also our guide Julie for such a wonderful tour.

June is a fabulous, informative guide . We visited many interesting and authentic eating establishments as well as tea shops and treats. She is so well versed on traditions, history and political history that we were engaged the whole trip. I would highly recommend her as a guide and if we return we will definitely arrange to have June as our guide.

Garen with WithLocals provided a very thorough and interesting tour. Three hours with delicious foods from scallion pancakes to dumplings, fresh fruit from the market and boba tea to name just a few. She took us to local providers and made sure to intersperse with information about the rich history and culture behind everything. We would absolutely recommend any of Garen’s tours!
