Our guide, Evan, had a great depth of knowledge and fantastic communication skills and was able to explain the wider context from which the civil war was born. Moving around the old gothic town from Place de Catalunya and the narrow streets and courtyards off La Rambla, Evan showed us places of significance and photographs from the time that helped us gain a sense of how and why the conflict played out and the impact on the people of Barcelona. Evan was keen to answer additional questions and was extremely attentive to everyone. My 16 year old son found it fascinating as did my partner and I. Highly recommended.

Really excellent tour with a very experienced and knowledgeable guide. We learnt a lot about the reasons behind the civil war, how world events at the time were related to it and saw some areas of interest and learnt about their history.

Excellent tour, very knowledgeable and passionate guide (Evan) who brought the long sorry tale to life in the centre of this bustling city. He took us to parts of the city we would never have found and pointed out very specific buildings which became so important during the war. I particularly liked his use of photographs and maps to explain the intricacies and complexity of the war. His use of quotes from speeches and diaries from the time was superb. But Evan was sure to point out the nuanced attitudes depending on which side they were on and the subtle and not so subtle use of propaganda at the time.
Overall this was a brilliant 3hrs of our trip to Barcelona and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to understand just how bloody and terrifying this period was that caused Spaniards to turn on each other just 90 years ago.

Amazing tour - we loved it! Our guide Evan was fantastic and answered every question our group had. Evan was very engaging and knowledgeable. The 3 hours flew by and the resources / links he provided at the end were a goldmine! One of, if not THE best walking tours I have done.

We booked this tour as we wanted to learn more about Spanish history. Our guide Chrisa explained things well, including her own family's experiences. It is really important that people listen to the lessons from history, and it is only more recently that those involved have felt able to safely recount their stories. I highly recommend this tour
