It must have been the Daily Telegraph that a couple of years ago mentioned a reason to visit each Greek island. For Crete, the main reason was the food. Locals couldn't agree more, as 90% of the Greek islands might have unparalleled beauty, but Crete offers the best quality of food on top of that as well. For this reason, a food tour in town would have been the very best idea.

This experience is going to give you the opportunity to taste an abundance of local products, from the greatest Cretan producers. From the classic Raki / Tsikoudia, to Cretan Bougatsa, the local varieties of local Cheese, olives, and even the very best sweets.

In order to make this tour unique, we have added a visit to a local herbs and products store, (which, among locals, is considered the most secret gem) and also a visit to the best traditional manufacturer of Cretan knives.

In a few words, if someone is in Crete in order to experience its authenticity, this tour is exactly what they need.

Christos went above and beyond, with not only a skillful weaving of Cretan history and food introductions, but also additional hidden gems (“encores”) for a tour that lasted well beyond the official time.

Christos was an amazing guide and it was obvious he loves Chania and wants to share that with those visiting the area. He started the tour asking about food allergies as he wanted to be sure everyone was able to enjoy and have options available. During our walk, we stopped at several food shops and restaurants tasting a variety of foods (cheeses, olives, honey, gyros, pastries, etc) along the way. We ended the tour by walking through the Old Town which had beautiful little alleyways filled with cute apartments and gorgeous flowers. A very enjoyable day!

Cristos was an excellent guide. He curated some of the best local restaurants and paired it with great information about the food, culture, and history of the region. We had ample time to eat, walk and enjoy the sites. We were a family of 5 and everyone enjoyed the tour thoroughly. I only wish we learned more about the wine from the area.

Blessed Greece’s walking food-tasting tour was recommended to me, and I, in turn, would highly recommend this activity to anyone else visiting Chania, Crete. The food options were delicious, varied and vegetarian-friendly, and guide Christos is so well-suited to his profession. He is knowledgeable, organized, attentive and personable, regularly checking in with attendees in my group during the tour to see if their expectations are being met and if they’re enjoying themselves. If I ever return to Chania, I’d definitely check out other tours offered by Blessed Greece; in fact, I’d consider going on this food tour a second time! After the food tour, Christos also showed us a few non-food sites. After we went our separate ways, he sent us an email recapping all of the places we visited and the foods we ate, as well as making additional restaurant recommendations. And he tailored these emails individually. For example, during the tour, I had asked about the best ice cream places in Chania; I was pleasantly surprised that the follow-up email to me did indeed recommend an ice cream place.

Christof was a fantastic guide. Very easy to talk to. You can see so many locals saying hi to him during the tour so he must be very liked by local shop owners.
We took the 9am tour so we were just the 2 of us as most people take a later one! So this transformed into a private tour and we were able to stay how long we wanted in each place.
We particularly loved Prassos the herbs shop and its owner.
And of course the food was excellent all along. This really is a food tour not a walking tour. We had pastries with cheese, cheese board, sweets, coffee, honey and alcohol and everything was local and delicious.
We recommend, it is worth the money.

If you’re in Chania, you cannot miss this food tour! Giannis was an amazing guide, making the experience both fun and informative. We visited six different places, sampling delicious and authentic local dishes. A highlight was the charming herb shop, where we learned about various organic aromatic herbs and herbal teas. Each stop offered unique and mouthwatering flavors, showcasing the best of Greek cuisine. Highly recommended!

Amazing food with a little tour in the gorgeous city of Chania. We had a great time with our guide who takes good care of his guests. You might want to arrive a bit earlier to find a parking spot in the city.

I have waited entirely too long to write this review.....it was an absolutely amazing experience for me and for my entire extended family of 7. Our guide, Christos, treated each one of us like family, giving us amazing "inside" information on the shops and restaurants we toured, and enabling us to talk extensively to the shopkeepers, etc. so that we could really get to know them and their various crafts. My 11-year-old son was even able to make friends with one of the shopkeeper's sons that is his age, and they hung out together for over an hour....I cannot recommend Christos and his Company highly enough. Christos, I am sorry it has taken so long for me to post this review, please forgive me!
