Departing from La Spezia, we will cruise past all five villages, hugging the coastline as not to miss the highlights of the rugged landscape, hidden coves and historic relics visible only by sea and under the guidence of our expert crew.
Along the way, there will be time to stop and swim in the crystal clear blue sea, or simply relax on the boat, as the setting sun dances off the water.
As we await the sunset, we will explore the magical bay of Portovenere, including Byron’s Grotto, before sharing a toast in front of the beautiful backdrop of Portovenere.
We will then return to La Spezia in the beautiful twilight.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Often overlooked but arguably the most beautiful of the coastal villages of the area, Portovenere is also the most ancient, with such historic wonders as the Church of St. Peter that perches almost camouflaged atop the sheer rock face at the westernmost point of the town, and the dominating Doria Castle that overlooks the village. The northern most village of the Cinque Terre is Monterosso, which is separated into two sides: the historic center and the “new” side called Fegina, with a pedestrian tunnel connecting the two. Monterosso is more sprawling than the other villages and is the only one that offers beach services, therefore making it the most visited of the Cinque Terre.

Vernazza which is the smallest of the Cinque Terre, and commonly known as the most charming with a beautiful little harbor and the Church of St. Margaret of Antioch that sits right on the water. Here you will also see the Belforte Tower that sits right on the harbor as a beacon of protection for the tiny village.

Sitting 100 meters high on a cliff face, Corniglia is the only of the villages without a harbor and features a panoramic terrace where you can see Manarola and Riomaggiore to the south and Vernazza and Monterosso to the north.

A short ride up the coast, and we find Manarola, which sits on the other end of the Via del Amore and is part of the municipality of Riomaggiore. Known for its wine production, Manarola produces the unique dessert wine called Sciacchetrà which can only be found in this area.

As we continue to cruise up along the coast, the last one of the Cinque Terre villages that we will come across is Riomaggiore. With brightly colored houses built vertically up the surrounding hills, Riomaggiore is the second largest of the five villages and is widely known for excellent diving spots off it’s coast in the protected marine area that stretches all along the Cinque Terre. Here you will also see where the world famous Via del Amore walking path starts, leading to neighboring Manarola.

The most exceptional tour and highlight of our Italy trip was our Cinque Terre tour with Sara and Simone. Booking and coordinating our trip with them was seamless. We were coordinating with Megan and she was very organized with our reservation, and even prepared our car transfer from the train to our airbnb and to the docks. They were very flexible with our schedule. Sara was a wonderful tour guide, she was very knowledgeable and engaging, we learned a lot about the history and landscape of the region. Our captain, Simone was amazing as well! We appreciate the time and effort it took for us to have an enjoyable tour, not rushing our stops and our swimming time. The boat itself is very clean, modern, comfortable and spacious for our family of four. The tasting (both the wine and the food) was enjoyable and delicious as well. Last and definitely not the least, we appreciate that they let us soak in the beautiful sunset with the wild goats. We enjoyed and loved this tour and have never experienced anything like it. If you are in the area and have the time, BOOK THIS TOUR! You are in for a treat!

After hitting the pavement for 4 days on the hiking trails along the 4 villages... a completely different approach by sea.

Our family booked a tour as part of our Italian adventure this summer. I had many questions for Megan prior to our visit because we were staying in Lucca and not the Cinque Terre area. She promptly and patiently answered all of my questions. We booked the 6 hour day tour on the black boat. Our experience exceeded our expectations! The seas were a bit choppy the day of our tour, but are visit was just perfect. We toured all five villages from the sea and made a stop at Monterosso. After our tour of the villages, we stopped at swam off the coast of Porto Venere. We were treated to a delightful lunch before we headed back to La Spezia!

I highly recommend seeing Cinque Terre from the sea. The views were spectacular and if you do so, do it with The Blue Boat Cinque Terre Tours!

Stunning scenery, we loved swimming off the boat (snorkelling equipment and floatation aids provided). We were well looked after by Sergio and Sara. In particular, we loved the taste of local food and the drinks provided

The sunset boat tour was awesome, we loved the experience, the hosts (Sara and Sergio), the views, the history and the food. Sara was so well educated on the area, she was able to answer all our crazy questions. Sergio made an amazing plate of local food paired with local wine. The sunset was breath taking and the Cinque Terre was incredible to see from a different view point. Our group of 4 took the black boat for 3-4 hours on the sunset tour. We would 10/10 recommend to anyone coming to La Spezia.

Yesterday we had a beautiful boat trip along the towns of the Cinque Terre. A wonderful experience with swim stops, drinks and bites. Greta and Sergio were such lovely people. The #blackboat was very comfortable.
