Our tour guide Luke was so informative and knew all the facts inside out, it was such a great experience to witness all the geothermal activity and see all the different pools within the park. The Mud bath and thermal pool soak afterwards was amazing too!

Our guide, a Maori indigenous person, was extremely knowledgeable and engaging on our 2 hour walking tour through the geothermal activity site. He taught us about the the customs and rich history of his people and about the environmental features of the area. A highly recommended tour.

To be honest the guided tour made the visit way better, im glad it was recommended by the lovely ladies at reception. it's beautiful either way but Ngati's commentary and stories definitely made it more interesting and I learnt alot more about te ao maori. 5 stars guide with the really long name :)

I have a beautiful experience. An stanning landscape to walk through and having the guide map to learn was great. I made the mud bath and sulphur pools. It was awesome! The mud bath felt fabulous and the sulphur pool so soothing. The staff were so friendly and lovely.

Even though it stinks as soon as you get out of your car, the sheer uniqueness of this place more than makes up for it. There are numerous steaming lakes of mud, yellow trees, a hot waterfall, sulphur, mud volcanoes and boiling mud. Its a place you couldn't believe unless you were walking through it, and you can only imagine what was going through the first explorers of the area when they came across it.

We finished off our walk with learning how to make a Maori timber carving, and the guys there were very welcoming and a great way to end our visit.

We only did the walk but were able to join one of the tour guides who provided insight on the history and fun facts about each of the pools.
