Sangeh Monkey Forest is a sanctuary for grey long-tailed macaques in the village of the same name in south-central Bali. Besides being home to the monkeys, the forest sanctuary also has around 22 different species of birds and a wide variety of mammals, reptiles, amphibians and arthropods.
2.
Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is both a famous picturesque landmark and a significant temple complex on the western side of Beratan Lake in Bedugul, central Bali. The whole Bedugul area is a popular upland weekend and holiday retreat for locals from the more urban areas in the island's south.
3.
Pura Batu Ngaus is a stunning 17th-century fertility temple perched on a rock in the ocean. The temple is made from black lava rock and so has a dark a looming quality about it, especially on an overcast day like the day we visited. The Balinese people come here to seek medicine or fertility blessings from the mangku (priest), and leave offerings. There is also a blowhole here in the rocks that connects to the ocean via an underwater cave.
