In this 2.5 hour food tour, embark on a memorable food adventure with a small group guided by an English-speaking tour guide and, most importantly, a local foodie. Guests will weave through the crowded streets of Shimbashi (or Ginza in some cases), and visit restaurants serving local delicacies that are not for the weak-stomached, such as blowfish (fugu), horse meat, and more, along with traditional foods such as sushi and yakitori.

• 100% refund for cancellations made up to 4 days before the start time of the experience. Cancellations made after that time period will receive no refund
• After booking, you will receive a form for the Adventurous Japanese Food Tour. This form will collect your essential information, allowing us to tailor the tour to your interests and preferences in order to finalize your booking
• This tour is for guests 18 years and older (all guests must be accompanied by an adult that is 18 years or older). Adults are responsible for dietary requirements of younger guests in the group, as well as their own dietary needs.
• A private tour is available for booking. Guests may experience this unique tour with just their tour guide (not in a small group setting). Please note, however, that the Whisky Tasting (if selected, option), may have other guests. If you would like a private Whisky Tasting tour, please contact us.
• Some establishments in Tokyo will allow smoking, and is out of our control. Please bring a facial mask to mitigate some of the smoke if desired.
• Why am I charged a service fee if I make a cancellation after you started planning the trip?
• Organizing and planning a trip requires a lot of time and if we have made reservations on your behalf, it may be very challenging to cancel some booking requests. Once we receive your booking and your answers from the Tour form, we will start arranging your tour guide, buying tickets, making reservations at venues for your tour, etc.
• If you cancel the tour any time after we have sent you the tour detail, the service fee of 15% of your total tour cost will be nonrefundable.
• If your cancellation falls within the fees applied to the Standard Cancellation Policy, the service fee of 15% will no longer take effect. You will only be responsible for the cancellation fee specified in the Standard Cancellation Policy. Please carefully review the terms and conditions specified on the checkout page.

• What if I'm late?
• We ask that all guests arrive at the location at least 10 minutes before the designated meet-up time. Since this is a group tour, we may not be able to wait for you if you are late. The tour will begin without the late guests and you can meet the rest of the group at the next location. Guests are provided with the tour guides’ phone number before the tour and you can call the tour guide if you need to meet the group in the next location.

I was meant to enjoy this experience with two friends of mine, who were unfortunately detained in another part of Tokyo and ended up unable to join. However, I will say I had a fantastic time with the host regardless! She set up a very nice selection of tastings (of whale, fugu, and horse sashimi) for me, made great drink suggestions, and conversation flowed well. She made me feel comfortable and welcome even as a surprise-solo attendee. For anyone wishing to explore a variety of 'adventurous' foods without dedicating specific meals to each, I highly recommend this tour!

Our guide has great manners and focuses on small details. He ordered lots of 'normal' food for one of our friends who was afraid of fugu. The rest of us enjoyed the tour all the way; whale meat is special. It's a must-go tour if you want to experience the unusual side of Japanese cuisine.

Our host Izumi-san was lovely, knowledgeable and patient to our terrible Japanese language skills. He told us lots about Tokyo and the food tour was amazing. Horse sashimi is the best.

What a fantastic way to wrap up our last day in Tokyo! Thank God I didn't miss out on this food tour. It was the perfect finale to our 10-day trip.
Exploring the streets of Shimbashi and trying unique dishes like fugu and horse meat, as well as classics like sushi and yakitori, was amazing. I highly recommend this food tour to anyone in Tokyo! It's an experience you shouldn't miss.

This is my 3rd time visting Japan, and I wanted to try something different, not just sushi or sashimi. I joined a Adventurous Food tour with two other groups, and our guide met us at Ginza station near my hotel. We started by trying fugu, which made me a little nervous at first, but it was worth it. Then we tasted horse meat and whale meat. I highly recommend it!

Shun is amazing! He took use to three different eateries where we had the unique foods of Japan. But the real gem of the tour is the whisky tasting add on. He is very knowledge about the local whiskies. We shared drinks like old friends and it was fantastic!

Izumi, the tour guide was great. He spoke English well enough and was informative on the dishes, local areas, and Japanese culture. The food was so-so, but that doesn't bother me as trying new food as a foreigner, new food is always hit or miss. I do think the tour may have been overpriced,but also hard to know ,as we didn't do any ordering. Overall, I recommend if you are open trying new foods.
