Your Vienna food tour starts with a visit to a family-owned bakery in Vienna’s 10th district. From our meeting point of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, we’ll ride the subway over to this very local, multicultural neighborhood.

Here, you’ll sample one of our favorite local treats: krapfen, which is a jam-filled doughnut sprinkled with sugar. These pastries are popular year-round, but especially so leading up to Lent.

Next, take the subway to the 4th district, to visit a little-known coffee house. This place may not be famous, but its Austrian cakes and strudels are absolutely delicious.

Finally, we’ll visit Vienna’s famous Naschmarkt, where we’ll sample some handmade Austrian chocolates before finishing our Vienna tour with a drink at a hipster hangout in the 7th district.

This Vienna food tour varies with the seasons, but some treats you may get on your tour include palatschinken (jam-filled crepes), marillenknödel (apricot dumplings), gugelhupf (bundt cake), and/or Austrian ice cream.

Our tour guide Maria was wonderful. Led our small group through the city to 4 pastry stops and one savory stop. Kept the conversation flowing and full of interesting facts about the city.

My daughter and I recently went on a sweet tasting tour with the delightful guide Maria.
We had the most amazing experience, we had 5 stops, 4 included sweet treats and the last one a savory treat.

The dishes were amazing , in particular we liked the ice cream shop that served a sorbet like cake that was out of this world!

Our guide Maria was brilliant, funny, accommodating and really took time to explain and describe Viennese culture.

We traveled by tram and underground to different locations and this gave us an opportunity to see part of Vienna we had not seen before
If you are thinking of booking this tour and you have doubts...please book it with confidence, you will not be disappointed. We will remember this tour forever!
Thank you Maria and thank you Wolfy... you gave us a magical afternoon in a brilliant city!

Sweet Secrets of Vienna Dessert Tour was excellent. The food and the sites were equally amazing. Maria, our guide, was superb. She catered to each person on the tour, and she communicated effortlessly, with charm, grace, and humor. Highly recommended!

One of the best tours we have ever taken. Maria was our guide- wonderful and knowledgeable and friendly and fantastic - made our trip. Loved that it wasn’t just a walk around the tourist area, we took the subway/ tram and walked to several different districts. We tried numerous desserts then ended with some savory- schnitzel and beer. A great trip with older teens. Maria made this tour- going ONLY were the locals lived and ate. She taught us the ease of the public transport/ subway which we used for more of the trip. Thank you thank you thank you.

my family does not often do this kind of thing when traveling, so we were a little apprehensive, but the dessert tour was amazing! Wolfy was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave us great information both about the food and Vienna in general- these tours would be a great place to start if you are unfamiliar with the city as we got some great information and suggestions. the food was delicious and varied, giving a good overview of local desserts and culture. show up hungry, as there is a lot of tasting and you will want to have it all!

We were met by a young guide & she was very friendly & excited to show us around. She took us on s few train & tram rides in the various districts to places where the locals eat including a walk by the market. I really enjoyed the apricot donuts & the icecream & the fact that a savory dish was included at the end to balance out the sweets. The group was only 5 people which was great & cosy. We were all so full afterwards.

Maria our tour guide was excellent, she was both interesting and interested in us. Her knowledge of the local food and history of the food and Vienna districts was the right amount of information to be engaging without overloading you. We went to places off the main tourist streets that as tourists you might look at and not be sure whether to try or not. Everywhere we went was run by locals, cooked/baked in-house and based on mostly traditional food. Who knew that apple sauce and horseradish would work (accompanying beef), but it does. All excellent, delicious and dispute the amount of cake/pastries we ate they were light (apart from the Sachertorte which is a richer denser cake in and of itself). It was lovely to meet local people passionate about their product and I particularly liked the ethos of the Vollpension which employs some senior citizens of Vienna as part of a social project.

The additional information Maria shared during the tour I found invaluable, such as explaining the transport system. I also took up a recommendation Maria sent us after the tour

Thank you Maria for bringing the food of Vienna to life and introducing us to so much we would not have seen. Also thank you to my fellow travelers on the small group tour who were lovely and like minded about trying what the local Viennese food scene had to offer.

These groups are small purposely which makes them feel really welcoming and friendly.

Just spent a lovely night with Maria learning about Vienna and the food scene. We ventured into different districts and tasted delightful desserts that I would have never thought to try. We had coffee, amazing wine and we topped off the night with a savory meal. Yes, desserts were first. We ate where the locals go so no tourist traps and we traveled by bus and the underground which was great. Thank you Maria. It was a unique experience
