This experience was the best I have ever had in my life! The guide Katy was the best guide you could have: empathetic, local, cheerful and has a lot of experience! The activities are very fun: cycling with amazing views, rafting, zip lining, trekking, and many more. The hotels and food are very good. If you want to go to Machu Picchu with an unforgettable experience, do not hesitate to book the tour and ask for Katy! A tip: bring clothes for the heat! Most of the tour is inside the area, it is very hot!

The guides and food were incredible. Without them this trip would have been impossible. The camping itself is basically glamming as far as backpacking is concerned, but the hiking is quite difficult.

A great way to really experience Peruvian culture through seeing all of the small towns included in the tour! Food and activities were amazing, and ending on Machu Picchu was incredible. Our tour guide Stif was also incredible and connected well with the whole group.

My and my girlfriend enjoyed every minute of this adventure (we were in a lovely group of 8 people, with Walter and Armando as guides).

The inca jungle trail starts with mountainbikes (starting at 4200 m and descending to 1100 m) with breathtaking views, followed by a rafting experience on the Urubamba river which is incredibly fun as well. The first night you spend in an authentic ecolodge, with local food. Walter (with the help of Armando!) teaches you about the local culture, vegetation, fruits, animals and he is very passionate about all of this.

The second day is a trekking day (partly on an original part of the inca trail) through the valley with an amazing view, ending in the hot springs of Colcamayo.

You start the third day by zip-lining like a monkey and a condor (very fun!), after which you hike towards Aguas Calientes (the last stop before Machu Picchu).

On the last day Walter gave us a great tour around Machu Picchu to finish this perfect experience.

Walter was probably the best guide i have ever met on any trip and Armando was also extremely helpful (and funny!) throughout the whole trek. One of the best experiences of my life by far.

A really well organised trek thanks to our guides Teddy and Max from alpaca expeditions. They were very helpful and made it an experience we'll never forget. Also a huge thanks to all the hard working porters especially Huan and chef Mikhael who cooked us lovely food.

This review is very late. My friends and I started this trek on January 1st, 2021 and it was one of the best experiences of my life.

TREK:

To begin, the biking was pretty easy, but your should at least prepare your butt to be sitting on a bike seat for a few hours. If you go in cold turkey you could be sore for the days to follow.

Rafting was very intimidating at first, but after you get on the water it feels pretty safe and the guides there are clearly very comfortable on the water. Their confidence was very assuring for us.

The hike... Well, let me say, when we were looking at which tour to do, we chose the Jungle Trek specifically because the reviews say you don't really need to be in shape. This hike, was not for the faint of heart and you should absolutely train for this. You will spend at least half the day going up a considerably steep incline. Added to that, it is important to understand that in some places, you are walking on ledges without any barriers between you and the trees and/or river below. The Andes mountains are intimidating in size and unpredictability, but our guide definitely helped us to feel safe.

Zip-lining was amazing. We got to hang in different positions across the lines and see part of the Andes in a whole new way.

FOOD:

I'm a vegetarian, so every entree I had was usually different than everyone else's. And every single meal was amazing. Most of my meals were just a variation of vegetable mix dishes, but they were all different, expertly seasoned and fresh. FRESH. Mind you, they grow all the food you eat without hormones or pesticides and it's often grown on the same property of the restaurants you're eating at. Lunch and dinner are always 3 courses; salad, soup, and entree. I want to go back and eat at every place we stopped again... and again... and get the recipes.

GUIDE:

Our guide was Eduardo. I cannot say enough good things about this man. He was so knowledgable and really cared to get to know us. He gave us good tips for places to visit in Cusco, helped us by interpreting for us at times, and always helped to make us feel safe. We never doubted whether we were in good hands with him. He always took safety precautions seriously for COVID prompting us to wear masks when we entered new communities. He also gave us such great insight into Peruvian and Inca cultures. The next time I visit Peru, I'll definitely be reaching out to Eduardo to arrange a visit. My friends and I were all very grateful to have had him as our guide.

I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking to see the untamed side of Peru! During the tour you get to see stunning mountain scapes (on foot and by bike), quaint communities and of course the fabled Machu Picchu. Our tour guide, Jonathan, helped to make the experience exceptional. He went above and beyond with any questions or concerns we had and was very organized during the trek.

A word of caution though: the hostel we stayed at for the final night before Machu Picchu was beside a couple local bars. We happened to be staying in this hostel on a Friday night, and the locals were doing what they do. To make sunrise by foot at Machu Picchu, we woke up at 3:30 am to make the line to the first check point. You may want to coordinate with the tour company to get a private room if you are in Aguascalientes on a Friday/ Saturday night.
