This tour is a must do experience. I booked it the night before and was surprised that the tour guide did in fact have my name typed out on his welcome card. Simanie was the gentleman who took us around the island and he was a perfect match for my group. He took us to all the landmarks around the island while telling us the history. We visited multiple beaches, explored the fort, got to do some shopping, and went to.an iguana farm and fed iguanas. I didn't feel rushed and felt that we got to truly experience the island. Oh yeah, bonus points for the homemade rum punch he had in the cooler in the back. Book Pelican tours! You won't be disappointed!

This was one of the best tours I have ever been on. Our driver Shawn did not skip on beat on this tour. We hit every point, beach, hill, etc. Nothing was missed on this tour. We saw the entire island and had a GREAT lunch. Our driver even give us littles quizzes to make sure we really learned the history of the island and it does have interesting history.. We have some amazing pictures...BOOK THE TOUR

Patrick was very nice. It's always good to have a local give the tour, since they know where the locals go. We went to some neat places where having something other than sandals to allow for safe trekking-up steep, uneven surfaces, but that might, also, get wet, is the best idea.
You can always opt not to venture far from the vehicle, if not. The transportation was spacious and air conditioned.
Thank you, Patrick, for a enjoyable outing.

Narlene was a great guide showing us the island. We loved getting to see and learn so much in the short time we had to spend there. Orient beach and Mullet Bay were beautiful!

We had.a great day with Nerline. She picked us up right on time at our hotel. We wanted to know more about local history rather than the tourist beaches tour and she delivered and answered my many questions. We enjoyed our day and the local lunch.
I would recommend the private tour is the best way to see most of the island in your own time.

Amazing excursion seeing the sites of St. Maarten. Our guide Sean took us to beautiful and educational sites. Gave us lots of time at different beaches and answered all our questions. It was fast paced enough to keep the kids entertained. Was hesitant about Orient Beach with the kiddos, but they didn’t see too much. Maho Beach and the Lizard Guy were the kid’s favorites!

We had a wonderful private tour! Nerlene was our tour guide and she was great! We told her what we wanted and she delivered. I feel like we got a little taste of everything, which was what we wanted. She was prompt, so friendly, and accommodating. She had beer, water and sodas on ice that she offered frequently. We were picked up at our resort on the French side and went around the whole island, stopping frequently for photos, sights, and a bit of shopping. We returned just before 2. Price was very reasonable for a private tour. We had a great time. Thank you Nerlene!!

We arrrived in Philipsburg by cruise ship. The only snag was that the directions for meeting are in a document you receive after booking, so be sure to download and save or print that. That was not Sean's fault, just not really clear on the tour discription that you need to do that.

We had a number of places we wanted to hit on both the Dutch and French sides of the island, and Sean did a great job curating this for us. This is one of the reasons we really like doing this sort of tour, as opposed to the big bus tours. In the end it really doesn't cost much more, and you get to do everything you want to do, and none of the stuff you don't, and you don't have to mess around with others who are late getting back to the bus or any of that kind of BS. :)

We visited a few of the beaches, including Maho Beach, where you can watch the planes fly overhead. We wanted to get a good taste (literally) of both sides of the Island, and Sean took us to several great local spots. I had some pastries on the French side that were absolutely DIVINE! If God made anything better than that pistachio cream croissant, He kept it for Himself. We also visited a cheese shop on the Dutch side where I got a very nice selection of absolutely fabulous cheeses, including some sheep's milk cheese and a very nice Guada. I also tasted several varieties of the local rum and took back an ample supply for home. Sean recommended a local establishment over on the French side for lunch, where I had a fantastic portion of fresh carribean seafood. The price was reasonable and the quality was excellent. I don't recall the name of the fish now, but it's a local specialty that I highly recommend.

One other thing we like to do on these trips is to get our passports stamped and get individual ilsand trinkets like shot glasses. Getting your passport stamped is a no-brainer when you fly, but is sometimes overlooked when crusing as cruisers generally don't need to clear airport customs. Sean located an office along our route where we could do that, and arranged to visit before we left. We really appreciated the extra effort on his part to add this special little touch for us.

This review honestly doesn't do Sean and the tour he gave us justice. There are so many things that we wanted to do, and such a short time to visit and do them. There is no possible way your typical big-bus excursion could ever accomplish all of this. By the time we left, we felt like Sean was an old friend whom we would look forward to seeing next time we visit. Our time with him wa enjoyable as the tour itself.

We will definitely visit again, and I will absolutely travel with Sean again as there is much more to see and do here than you can possibly cover in a day. While I will say that Dutch side is clearly the better side of the island in terms of how things are maintained, you definitely need to see both the French and Dutch sides as each has unique and wonderful things to offer.
