I think going with the tour made entering the acropolis and museum so much easier. They have your tickets ready at check in and assign you to a small group. The tour was helpful to understand the history of Athens and the Parthenon. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and open to any questions or commentary.

The Acropolis, although worth the visit, is very difficult to get to. There are paths and stairs that are very uneven with loose rocks and gravel. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable but had a walking pace that was too fast with little time to rest. Some in our party did not make it to the top. I suggest seeing is on your own. Also bring plenty of water as there are no water stations along the way.

our guide Gabrielle was informative and shared her interest and passion for Greek culture and history. She kept us engaged for a nearly 3 hour tour under incredibly hot temperatures on the Acropolis. Experiencing the Acropolis and the museum with an experienced guide is definitely the best way to have the history brought to life and increased our enjoyment.

Natasha was a very friendly, knowledgeable guide. She engaged our group from the beginning, introducing herself, sharing her background and tour guide training, and asking us to introduce ourselves. She kept the group moving and consistently found shaded areas for us to stop and learn about the areas of the acropolis. The place was absolutely packed and the pathways uneven and slippery from all the dust on the marble, causing our group to get spread out. Natasha kept us together by telling us over the headphones where we were stopping. Her knowledge was superb and she shared lots of information in an engaging style, asking us questions, showing us pictures to help us visualize an area, and sharing historical insights. The acropolis is amazing, but very crowded and you can’t get too close to the temples as they are behind ropes. A quick walk back down the mountain and we were entering the museum for the second part of our tour. Key learning here is that skip the line means you don’t stand in a ticket line, not that you walk right into the attraction. We waited in the sweltering heat to get in, but museum was worth the time. Natasha walked us around and showed us the pieces from the Parthenon and explained the significance. We were all hot, sweaty and tired from a long morning, but the tour was excellent!

Anna is the guide that you'll never forget. Practically danced every step of the way. She handled questions easily with lots of wit! If there was a 6 on the scale she'd of got it. #bringthemback

Our guide, Alexandria, was exceptional. On the hottest day of the year so far, she kept us enthralled with stories about each segment of the walk to the top. She made sure she stopped where shade was available. She knew so much about the Acropolis, it was amazing.

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and tried her hardest to keep us shaded during explanations of various stops. Make sure you take water like they say! Try your hardest to go in the early morning if possible. There are restrooms and water available at the top however the lines were long and the time permitted before descending was not enough time to get through the line. We included the museum tour after the hike to the Acropolis which was worth our while. My personal recommendation would be for the tour guides to take you to the cafe in the museum PRIOR to the museum tour to give you a potty break and relax and get a beverage. It was hard for us senior citizens to go right from 3hrs of hiking in the heat to a 2hr walk in the museum with no break. We kinda lost interest and went off in our own from the tour guide. No disrespect but we were very exhausted and needed a sit down break to keep our interest. But this tour was wonderful and very worth the money!!

My most memorable experience is that I paid for the tour and saw NOTHING. They lost our groups tickets & got kicked out. No plan “B” and they wanted to give me half my money back. Viator scheduled the tour thru “Walking Tours” and that company totally screwed it up.
Avoid this group at all cost.
