We signed up for the Secrets of the Royal Mile Tour and chose the option to also visit Edinburgh Castle. What a fantastic introduction to the history of the Royal Mile and things to see and do along the way. Our guide Nicola was entertaining and knowledgeable. It's definitely worth the extra time and cost to include the Edinburgh Castle option. It allows you to skip the lines and you get additional information and highlights that you would miss by touring on your own. Make sure you reserve in advance.

An excellent tour on The Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. The history provided was impeccable and delivered in a most informative professional manner by our tour guide Joe. I commend him for his research and knowledge. I would recommend this tour not only for a steady walk round on this volcanic hill but also to the audio equipment supplied by Mercat, so surrounding noise never prevented you from listening to the guide.

Marina was our your guide and she was not only personable but knew everything about the city. I am older and she kept a pace which was comfortable for all. She was ver friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour! Highly recommend this amazing experience! Worth every penny!

Brilliant tour with a great guide. We’d been up and down the Mile already but knew so little about what we were actually looking at. Linda took us down the closes and showed us hidden spots, and she was engaging and entertaining throughout.

Marina was a great guide with very good pace. A superb mixture of facts and stories about the daily life in edinburgh. Especially the stories about people were very interesting. At last Edinburgh castle is very recommended to visit.

This was one of the best walking tours we have been on during our time in Europe. Marina was a fantastic guide.. easy to understand, fun and interesting. Her knowledge of the Royal Mile's history and Edinburgh was second to none. The headphones were also of great quality and we could hear Marina well over the sound of the bustling Royal Mile :)

Linda was a fantastic guide, thoroughly knowledgeable and very entertaining. The time flew by and the Royal Mile and Castle were both incredible. We had a tour with a different group later that night and if I had it to do over again I would have been sure to look for a Mercat Tours alternative.

The tour of Edinburgh Old Town and visit to Edinburgh Castle was perfectly conducted by Joe our tour guide, his knowledge of Edinburgh`s history was amazing and delivered in a most interesting way. The use of ear phones enabled every word to be heard. Would certainly recommend Mercat Tours to friends.

This was such an intriguing and amazing tour. Linda was fantastic with our tour group keeping everyone engaged with cool facts, visuals, and unique stories. Her stories were easy to follow, she had a great sense of humor, and the quality of information was superb. I would highly recommend taking this tour through Edinburgh, it did not disappoint
