My brother and I did the Doomed, Dead, and Buried tour, and our guide was Marie. The walk was 1 hour and 45 minutes, and it was the best tour we've ever done. Marie was an animated guide with a great talent for storytelling. She pointed out all sorts of neat details of the city and interesting historical tidbits. The vaults were well worth a visit, and the atmosphere was impeccable. Highly recommended tour for either those who like history or haunted things, or even if you just want to hear more about the city.

Michael gave us a great tour of Edinburgh underworld and his story telling was top notch. Additionally he seems like a character directly out of a Terry Pratchett novel which makes the tour even better.

I’ve done quite a few ghost tours in Edinburgh, it’s a bit of a hobby. I thought this company were the top of all the firms offering them when I booked, based purely on what they told me I guess. I certainly expected to get the best ghost tour. Sadly I echo a lot of the lower rating reviews. We start by being told that we’ll be hearing facts. That is soon forgotten as we hear made up stories that start with the words, we imagine. There is far too much time spent on finding words for poo. Bizarre. If you’re going to give the presenter a script that they have to stick so slavishly to make sure they can pronounce the words.
All in all this was the most disappointing tour I’ve done yet and I’ve done the bus tour! I found it sad that the headphones cut us off from speaking to each other or having an immersive experience in the vaults. I found it sad you’re not bothered to speak to any of the guests, find out where they’re from, engage with them. Those are my favourite parts of these tours. This felt like a tour where you don’t care, you just want the money. I’ve been in these vaults before, many years ago, so I must have done your tours before . You seem to have moved far away from where you used to be because it’s whatever tour it was that I went on ten years ago that I hold up as the tour to beat all tours. Yet here we are. We’re on the tour to see the vaults. To hear ghost stories. To try and see a ghost.

For a city that prides itself on its stories...you have to have realllly good story-tellers...this tour did not disappoint! Maeve was probably the best tour guide for a ghost tour that I've ever had, and I've been on A LOT of ghost tours! Very gripping, and very well paced for it being only an hour long. Wish it was a teeny bit longer! Thoroughly creeped out. Highly recommend this one.

I went on the adults-only tour, and it did not disappoint: a short walk from the Mercat Cross to the Mercat Tours building and into their underground vaults giving about 7-10 stories along the way (depending on how you count stories as stops or the ones told at each stop).

Neave was our tour guide, and she did a fantastic job. What was exceptionally funny was when she told a story of someone falling to their death and then she dropped her microphone system and made a joke about how it was a visual representation of what happened to him. Absolutely perfect. She told stories that are not for the squeamish, and she told them with a macabre delight that was quite in character for the affair. Even better, she didn’t all and she only had a cloak for warmth over her period-appropriate clothes. She is great in the role.

The only thing I should mention is that on top of the vaults themselves, they actually pack you into a small room, so if you’re at all claustrophobic, stay away. I stood with my head against the slanted ceiling for about 10 minutes inside what was about the size of a huge brick oven. This is not for anyone with enclosed spaces issues.

Overall, a great tour made mostly by the guide. It is a short walk with stories—not much in the way of visuals other than a close and the vaults. Probably the least amount of walking I’ve ever done on what I thought was going to be a walking tour, so you should expect a series of stories, short walks, and a vault tour. Don’t choose this if you are looking to tour the city and hear stories about the local buildings—there are only a couple of those.

Did the late night hidden & haunted Ghost tour - with Fey (not bob! ;) and it was amazing. Fay was an exceptional host and has a gorgeous was of story telling. The tour itself was really intresting and highlited history we would of otherwise never of known. The vaults are really intresting and if you're spiritual (or not!) you can definatly sense strange feelings down there. Would reccomend if you're in Edinburgh,

Neave is so friendly and amazing story teller, where she made even the most gruelling tales quite funny. Great history and especially in the vaults underground I could really feel the chills. Highly recommend this for anyone visiting Edinburgh!
