The archaeological site of Muyil is located in the northern part of the Sian Ka'an Biosphere reserve. This ancient Mayan trading post is the perfect place to enjoy astounding Mayan temples such as the 17 meters (57 ft) building known as El Castillo in the incredibly diverse semi-deciduous forest of Sian Ka'an. From the archaeological site you will take an interpretive trail towards the tallest observation point of Sian Ka'an to admire the exuberant vegetation of the jungle and the fresh water wetlands. Once you reach the Muyil lagoon, you will take a boat across two lagoons connected by an artificial canal that has been in use for many centuries. Xlapak is the name of the building at the beginning of the lazy river and the start of an incredible floating experience in crystal clear pluvial water on its way to the Caribbean ocean. You will float for over 30 minutes surrounded by mangroves, orchids, bromeliads. A delicious vegetarian picnic with seasonal fruits is included in the tour.

Our excursion was unfortunately cancelled due to inclement weather, but the tour group offered us two other excursions that were even better at no additional charge. You can’t go wrong with this your group.

We loved this tour! This tour company is the best....small groups and awesome guides. We had the best day floating with Macarena! It was a bummer that the government shut down the archeological site but the tour is still great. We had 3 kids with us ages 8, 12, and 16 and they all loved it. It's a peaceful yet fun outing. No hotel can replicate a truely natural lazy river--don't miss this!

Even tough the Muyil Ruins was closed for maintenance our party had a great time and the booking experience was easy.

We communicated via WhatsApp and the agents all answer my question promptly and made the arrangement extra personal for our group.

The Sian Ka’an biosphere is a naturalistic beauty and very untouched compared to other local attractions. We all had such an amazing time floating down the lazy river in crystal clear water.

Totally worth exploring.

We weren’t able to do everything we were supposed to because of the tide, snorkeling was not possible, swimming at the spot where the sweet water meets the salt water was still amazing, we were also able to swim in a cenote with our lunch, muyil archeological zone is closed to the public until further notice, but seeing the wildlife in the biosphere and getting to swim and get lunch was still a great experience, maybe should’ve been a little less money considering a lot of the things we were scheduled to do were not possible

A little disappointed not to have been able to visit the Muyil temple, because it is closed this week apparently... on the other hand, exploring the Mayan canal is a fun, original and very pleasant activity.

Very nice excursion with our guide Ursula. Nice guided tour of the Muyil site before the walk in the lagoon. Knowledgeable and friendly guide and the chance to see a baby crocodile.
