My friend and I really enjoyed today's DMZ tour. We left Seoul around 6:45 and were guided all day long by Mr. Young. He was funny, knowledgeable, punctual, and solicitous (he took great care of our safety).

We visited:
1. Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park (임진각 평화누리공원) (for tickets)
2. Gloster Hill Memorial Park (파주 영국군 설마리전투비)
3. Gamaksan Suspension Bridge (감악산 출렁다리)
4. Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park (임진각 평화누리공원) (back for lunch)
5. The Third Tunnel (제3땅굴)
6. Dora Observatory (도라전망대)
7. Unification Village (통일촌)

The highlight of the trip for me was the Dora Observatory - we could look across the border into North Korea and with the high-powered binoculars we could even see North Koreans walked and biking around the nearby village!

The trip was great and I'd definitely recommend it. If you can, request Mr. Young. 😁

The trip was amazing! Mr. Young was very knowledgeable about the history of the tour and made it fun with jokes also. My favorite part was seeing DMZ from the observatory. It was a very clear day so we were able to see a lot over the borders. Overall this was a great experience!

Our guide Junie provided a thorough background of the DMZ with quite a few interesting stories regarding this infamous stretch of land.

I learned a lot during this tour about the history of Korea. Having multiple spots and always having some time to browse and explore for yourself. I appreciated the different pick-up location, though I would have preferred a clearer communication regarding that. Thanks to Veronica for making sure we as a group were happy and answering all our questions.

This was ours worst experience in a tour, wherever is in the web site is not what you going to get, I believe TIPADViSOR lies about DMZ,
Very disappointed.

We had a wonderful day with Mr Young on the full day DMZ tour. His knowledge was phenomenal and the tour was so informative.
Pickup for the morning was confirmed via WhatsApp message the night before. After an hour drive out of Seoul we arrived at the information centre where tickets for the DMZ are purchased. Mr Young quickly ran inside to secure his spot in line. DMZ tickets have to be purchased on the day (with the passport details of each passenger) and the office opens at 9am - when we arrived just after 7 the line was already building. We had some free time around the area (war memorials, cafes/restaurants and pleasant gardens) until ticket sales opened.
Mr Young secured us tickets and we were off at 9.40am. For small group tours, you will be grouped with other tour groups and your guides onto the large buses provided for DMZ tours. The DMZ component is 3 hours with a group. This starts off with the 3rd tunnel which includes a museum component and then the walk into the tunnel. Even in the heat of summer, the tunnel is quite cool but it's also a decent walk to get the body temperature up. Unfortunately no photos allowed in the tunnel to show what it's like. It is quite steep into the tunnel, first in an open tunnel before reaching the narrow section originally dug by North Korea. Definitely worth the walk but it's a steep climb back out again at the end!
Next is the Dora Observatory. There's time to grab a quick lunch at a Cafe here, as well as enjoy the view out to North Korea. Mr Young pointed out a few key landmarks and we were then able to use the binoculars to check out the DMZ area and across the border.
Last stop is the unification village - this one I could have done without as it was basically a shopping and food stop. But its all part of the DMZ tour package and was over quite quickly. That concluded the official DMZ component.
After returning to the information centre, we got back onto our bus with just our small group and Mr Young. Next was off to the "Gloster Hill Memorial" (phonetic spelling of Gloucester), a site to remember British soldiers who fought in the Korean war. After the busy DMZ tour, this was a quieter stop to enjoy some peace.
Last stop for the day was our final leg workout on the short hike (only 10 minutes but lots of steep walking and steps) to get to the suspension bridge. Another peaceful spot, the view from the bridge was stunning and felt a world away from busy Seoul or the harsh DMZ area. It was a beautiful walk across the bridge and some exploring on the other side (although the waterfalls were dry given the heat of summer).
All in all, my brother and I really enjoyed our tour. We were grateful for Mr Young's expertise and although we walked a lot, we would happily take the trip again with the rest of our family. In summer, make sure you bring plenty of water (although there are multiple stops along the way to buy more if you need) as there is lots of walking and it is HOT! Also make sure you've got a comfortable pair of shoes to carry you through.

We had a wonderful time on this tour! Our tour guide Young energetically greeted us in the morning and carried that enthusiasm throughout the day. Our first stop was the ticket office/park - you have to be there early - where we learned a bit of history about the divide between the two sides and our plans for the day. We had plenty of time to walk around and grab some breakfast before heading into the DMZ. Our small group joined with some other small groups on a larger coach bus for the main portion of the excursion, although at each stop we then broke back up into our small groups.
From there we made our way to the tunnel - fair warning, it is quite the workout climbing down and back up (11+ degree incline). Then we headed to the observatory where we had plenty of time to look through the binoculars into North Korea and grab some lunch. Afterward, we went to the unification village. This is a quick stop (think more souvenir and restroom) before going back to the park and hopping in our smaller bus.
Last stops were the Gloucester memorial park and the suspension bridge. The memorial was a small, beautiful tribute to all the soldiers who helped Korea in the war. The suspension bridge will give you one more workout for the day but offers quite the view.
All in all, we could not have asked for a better day or tour guide! At every stop, Young gave an explanation of the area and additional background into the war and division of the North and South. Young was able to answer all of our questions, and kept a fun, enthusiastic attitude the entire day! We would highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in visiting the DMZ; and make sure to ask for Young!

The views and sites were so interesting to the history of the korean as well as the current situation. We had Mr Young as our tour guide and he was very informative and kept the mood fun despite the amount of uphill climbs and steps we had to take, but it was worth it! The views were amazing and you get so much out of it. I would 100% recommend, maybe on off-peak season to avoid the hotness. My favourite site was the tunnel visit, I haven’t been to anything like it!

It was a super interesting and fun day! Bryan, our tour guide, knows his history and could tell us many facts and interesting stories about the history of Korea. Because we had to wait for entering DMZ, we first went to the suspension bridge in the morning and then entered DMZ in the afternoon. There was a good pace to the day, but at the same time we also had enough time to explore the places we visited.
This tour was only with a small group (we were with 13 people), so that gave the experience a more intimate feeling. Only when we entered DMZ we had to share a bigger bus with other people. But for the rest, Bryan showed us around in our small group. I definitely recommend this tour!
