2 Day 4 Star Pilanesberg Safari

Bucket list item complete and more memorable than I anticipated! Alex toured us from Johannasberg to Pilanesberg and we had a fun and entertaining ride. The guides including Alex were exceptional and we learned something new about each animal we saw whether it was their behaviour or an interesting fact! The rooms and lodging were beautiful and the service was great! I would highly recommend MpAfrika they had everything arranged for us, I didn’t worry about a thing except what time to be at the front door. It was stress free, the multiple safaris were worth it. We did an early morning one where we saw a lion, we did afternoon one where we saw a lot of elephants close by and an evening one. Each Safari we experienced different animals and saw 4 of the 5 big 5. Thanks MoAfrika for an exceptions experience!

The Safari offered was very pleasant and dense. The pick-up was well done and the first tour in the morning by minibus went well. In the afternoon, we arrived at the hotel in remarkable comfort, the Ivory Tree Lodge hotel. The two tours organized by the hotel in the late afternoon, and very early in the morning at 5:30 a.m. were also remarkable. Departure from the hotel was more chaotic with a shuttle arriving at noon to end up reaching our hotel in Johannesburg at 6:30 p.m., i.e. 6:30 hours of transport, it was too much, especially since the driver drove on the highway and on national roads, much too fast. A lot of time was lost in the last visit to the park in a vehicle not intended for this purpose whose air conditioning did not work well and the windows did not open. I therefore recommend that the organizers provide the clients of this excursion with a more detailed schedule and activities, in order to allow everyone to better organize themselves and to improve the conditions of the return by shortening it. Accommodation, dinner like safari!
He was extremely available and very attentive to our slightest questions for our group of 9!

The evening drive safari was awesome. The nature beauty of the lodge was so peaceful. I so look forward to going back for a longer visit.

We both had an absolutely incredible time. The lodge was gorgeous and the food was so tasty. We particularly enjoyed the braii on the Saturday night. We really enjoyed all of the drives and were lucky enough to see lions and a leopard! The rangers were so knowledgeable and we thought the little snack break half way through the drives was a nice touch.

We were truly lucky to witness almost everything you could hope for. In the 2-day experience we had 4 safari tours, we saw up close rhinos, hippos, zebras, giraffes, elephants, cape buffalo, and even a lioness with two cubs with fresh wildebeest kill! All the staff were incredibly kind, attentive, patient and informative. Especially our driver Arnold and guide Ikka who went above and beyond to accommodate our whims! The accommodation is quite comfortable, the food at Manyane was surprisingly affordable, plentiful and delicious. Highly recommended!

A group of coworkers and I did this safari while in town for a conference. It was an absolutely magical experience- the park, the animals, the people, all welcoming and warm. Sonny lead our tour and was absolutely wonderful! He can spot an animal far in the distance, and we spent the day laughing like old friends- he brings out the best in people and the animals alike. We went on four safari tours and saw a lioness, rhinos, giraffes, elephants, hippos, crocs, cheetas, impala, springbok, warthogs, zebras, monkeys/baboons, and many birds. Others saw a leopard the day before

I did a two days game drive with 1 night in the Bakubung Bush Lodge. The trip was perfectly organized and we had a very friendly guide for the trip. Thank you Sunny!
We were lucky and saw 4 of the big fives in the park. The evening in the bush with bonfire and local dancers and musicians was great.
The only point I could criticize is the limited pickup area around Johannesburg. I did the booking through the webpage „Get your guide“ and it did not allow me to select the pickup area Fourways where my hotel was. The guide told me afterwards it would have been no problem to be picked up at my hotel, because they nearly passed it on the way to the park.

Bakubung Lodge has a beautiful location. We had to wait until we cood check in after arrival at the lodge. However, the game drives at the lodge are quite commercial. Large trucks with many people and assigned seating. Strictly timed duration of the drives. Of the three hours of game drives, about 30 minutes are spent taking a break in a cafeteria. Would be better to be out in the field. Nice wildlife sightings in the park. Nice drivers on the way in and out of the park with more wildlife viewing opportunities. Overall quite high price of the package.

Day 1 was very good. However, I think day 2 was a bit of drag after u check out of the hotel at 10 in the morning but u leave for Johannesburg only at 3 pm. As I understand, in the past there used to be a trip to sun city which would have been just nice. But now without the trip to sun city, you are just wasting time from 10 am to 3 pm. So the itinerary of day 2 needs to replanned. Other than that, the whole experience was very good.
