A local guide will be waiting for you at the meeting point with an orange umbrella. We will take you on a journey through the best wines of Portugal. This includes port wine, Portugal's most famous product. During this tour, you and other enthusiasts will taste Port wine, Douro wine, and Green wine. You will visit Fonseca Port Wine cellar, including 2 port wine tastings, and then, go to two wine houses to taste 3 samples of Douro Wine and one of Green Wine. Your tastings are complemented by traditional Portuguese snacks, cheeses, and smoked meats.

We'll walk to Gaia city to visit the cellar and come back to Porto to go to the bars/restaurants for the rest of the tasting. This way, you'll have the opportunity to see the best viewpoints of both cities. Bring comfortable shoes and get ready for some walking.

The tour was very fun and interesting. The tastings in the various locations broadened our understanding of Portuguese wine, especially port wine. Our guide made an effort to provide us with the most important information. In the first wine cellar, there was even a short tour by the winery staff. We would have liked more information about the city. Since we moved between locations relatively quickly, we probably missed a bit of it. Overall, though, we enjoyed the tour.

While the wine selections were a nice mix of ports, Duoro wines, and a green wine we were expecting a bit more out of the walking tour part. There was lots of walking, but not much talking/explaining while we walked. We met on the bottom level of the Luis bridge and walked over the the first Winery in Gaia, then back over to Porto for the next two. Would have made more sense to start on one side or the other?

The Guided Port Wine Walking Tour is a great way to see some of Porto and sample some fab port and vinho verde wine at local establishments. Our guide Danielle was very knowledgeable, friendly and good fun to be with.

Really pleasant walk around the port wine cellar over in Gaia, really interesting talk by port wine producer around history, British involvement and the various types of port wine, nice tasting session too! Then walk continued over in Porto, through some back streets and there was some history shown by the guide. More wine tasting along the way too! As party was quite large, the walk too a while to complete but a nice introduction to orientate yourself around Porto.

Alex was a great guide. She gave us a fair bit of history as we walked around the city and to the train station. The wine cellar tour and tasting was informative, the next 2 restaurant tastings were more casual.

A chaotic tour. As we departed, a group of people caught up with us saying they were on the tour. Despite having the correct documentation, they were not allowed to join. Whilst this was being sorted out, we missed the first scheduled port tasting at 2.15. We were then taken to a tour at a different venue at 3. So 30 odd minutes of not a lot happening! We visited two other venues for "wine tasting" but the guide (and the venues) offered no information or insight. At one point, I saw her organising her Istagram posting a shot of us at one of the tastings - whilst she was with us! Fortunately the people on the tour were lovely and that made up for some of the chaos. I am sure there are better tours out there.
