Join our morning tour of the historic neighborhood market in Tsukiji. You have probably heard that the wholesale fish vendors have moved — But this part of town is still one of the best food areas in all of Tokyo, home to delicious restaurants and market shops, some dating back over 100 years or more! Taste specialties from the area; things you simply cannot find anywhere else. We know all the hidden gems and will make sure you have a chance to taste the many flavors that make up the heart and soul of Japanese cuisine.

Visit the 65 specialty vendors who decided NOT to move to Toyosu at the wholesale building. They have remained in Tsukiji in a custom-made facility great for workers and visitors alike. We can often see the whole Tuna being prepared for selling. We will try fresh sashimi, and see the best of what is in season this time of year. Join a tasting session where we try new and unique food every time we tour! You will not find this on any other Tsukiji tour!

We had a great time on the tour with Josh. It was our first morning in Tokyo and the tour was everything we hoped it would be. We started with a breakfast in a small restaurant where Josh oriented us to the plan for the tour. The market was crowded that day so we followed along while Josh pointed things out and purchased different foods. Then we went up to some benches on a rooftop to have a picnic with all of the things Josh had purchased in the market. It was wonderful! Would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful breakfast-time tour with Yasuhiro. He made us feel welcome, comfortable, and taught us a lot about the history and culture of the Tsukiji market. We did this tour the day after arriving in Japan, and it was a fantastic way to acclimate ourselves and get used to the vibe of Tokyo. Would do more tours with Arigato Travel again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Yappi!

Our guide satori took us through the fish market and stalls we would never have found otherwise. Excellent English and was happy to explain Japanese customs at two different shrines and temples as well basic dining courtesy. Come hungry because you will be stuffed with fish and taiyaki!

We had a delightful tour with Trevor, who is from the USA. Everything he showed us and told us about had a purpose and we learned interesting gems of info about the area including the market, food, a shrine, customs and history. Since he is American, we were able to ask questions which he could answer and explain fully. He gave us a unique perspective as an American living in Japan for many years. In addition, he is an exceedingly nice person and it was great to spend this most worthwhile morning tour with him.

We had an amazing three-hour food tour of the Tskukiji outer market that kicked off with a stellar cup of coffee. Shigeki started us with a private seafood breakfast in the upstairs of one of the market stalls, and then the real fun began. We toured the market, including the fish vendors who declined to move to the new fish market. Along the way we were treated to snacks and tastes (fried tuna, tamagoyaki, kombu) as our guide gathered items for a second feast. He gave us some history and pointed out vendors we would not likely have noticed ourselves. We then had an enormous "Picnic" outside from the items we had picked up along the way - blow fish, tuna three ways (raw, croquettes, seared), pickled veggies, strawberries, eel, fresh-grated wasabi (the real stuff), snow crab, uni...everything was amazing. We ended with a taiyaki - or is it "tunayaki" since at the fish market the traditional snapper shape is replaced by a tuna? - filled with custard or red bean. The tour was small (6 people) so felt very personalized and lots of time for questions and conversations. I highly recommend this tour!

Highly recommend this tour with Kay. So many excellent food choices and new things we wouldn't have known about otherwise. Cute too that we ate along the way but also gathered food for a picnic at the end. So delicious!

We went as a group of 5 with two teenagers. Josh, our guide, was knowledgeable and passionate about local cuisine with intimate knowledge of the nooks and crannies of the market. We would have staggered aimlessly on our own, and were so glad we had his guidance. He adjusted to our time constraints and covered lots of ground. We did this tour early in our trip and it really helped to set the right tone. Would highly recommend Arigato, which has a particular approach to introducing the delights of Tokyo food. Not to be missed!

This was the Tsukiji morning food tour. Our guide was Michie and she was great - friendly, patient and knowledgable. We sampled many foods (soup, noodle, sushi, etc.) as well as very freshly sliced tuna sushimi. It was delicious. We also tasted desserts and sake. It was an ejoyable experience and likely more authentic if I had gone alone.
