Discover one of Europe’s most beautiful coastlines on this Costa Brava day trip from Barcelona. Travel by air-conditioned minivan to the famous coast, known for its pine-fringed cliffs and rocky headlands, and visit Blanes to relax at a secluded cove or admire the clifftop Marimurtra Botanical Gardens. WHAT TO EXPECT

8.15am - You will start your day at our main office, which is right next to the famous Palau de la Musica. You will meet your guide, have time to use the restrooms, and perhaps even grab a quick coffee before the tour begin. Your guide will explain all about the day ahead and what to expect as you wait for you tour to leave.

8.30am - You will leave Barcelona though the Example district of town. As you head out of the city, your guide will give you a brief history of Barcelona, before letting you sit back and relax on the 60 minute drive to BlaneS.

9.45am - In just over an hour, you will be transported from the hustle and bustle of the busy Mediterranean city of Barcelona, to one of the most breathtakingly beautiful stretches of coastline in the whole of Europe - the Costa Brava. Cala de Sant Francesc, known only to locals, is one of the few remaining coves on the coast that have avoided the crowds of tourists and big commercial developments. Our early morning departure from Barcelona means you’ll have the beach to yourself, and you’ll be able to enjoy a secluded swim in the crystal-clear waters, or wander alone the shoreline. You have the option to stay on the beach for the next two hours, or leave the sand for another day and come with us to the famous botanical gardens. With a little bit of effort, you’ll even find time to do both.

10.15am - The Marimurtra botanical gardens are home to a wide variety of exotic plants, but it is the amazing views from high up on the cliffs that makes this stop an absolute must. The turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea stretch out endlessly into the distance, while far beneath you the waves crash in an explosion of white against the wild coastline. You’ll not want to leave the clifftops, but a typical Mediterranean lunch is waiting for you in a local restaurant. You can choose to spend all morning here, or you can spend an hour wandering the gardens and then go back to the beach you first visited.

12.30pm - After we leave the botanical garden and beach we will stop first at the Castle of Sant Joan, with its magnificent views over Blanes. From there we descend into the town for the highlight of the day, a feast of traditional local dishes and Sangria at a local family run restaurant. All the dishes are lovingly handmade and they have built a deserved reputation as one of the best kept secrets in town. After lunch, we will take a short drive to Tossa de Mar.

3.45pm - The final stop of the day is Tossa de Mar, home to the last remaining preserved fortified town on the Costa Brava Coast. You will have time to walk up to the lighthouse along cobbled streets with the ever-present backdrop of the Costa Brava coastline completing your view. From the lighthouse on top of the hill, you’ll wander back down through the old medieval town before dropping into a maze of narrow streets lined with traditional whitewashed houses and shops. After a couple of hours exploring Tossa de Mar, we will head back to Barcelona, arriving at about 7pm.

7.00 - 7.15pm - We end the day in Plaça Catalunya. From here, you can easily take the metro or a taxi back to your hotel. Otherwise, your guide will be more than happy to make some recommendations of where to have dinner.

First of all Pablo was a fantastic guide!
He is extremely knowledgeable of Spanish history and current affairs and ties these together with the locations. On this tour he imparts drops of information... enough to make me want to take the longer historic guided tour, but doesn't dwell so long that if it's not your thing you won't feel bored. That's a special skill!

The locations chosen were great. I love seeing a good botanic garden, and having one on the sea is just a perfect setting.
There were 2 beaches in the visit.
The first beach was Blanes, an incredibly unique experience because of a rock based floor that made the water so clean that you could see the bottom for quite a depth and made colors pop in the water you don't normally see. It made me and my son extremely sad that we didn't bring our snorkeling gear. If that's your thing, bring yours. I bet it will be an amazing experience.

The second beach was Costa Brava, a more typical soft sand beach. Much easier on the feet, large, beautiful and more of what one expects a beach to be. The magic here is that this beach is crowned with a medieval town. Spain has a few of these, and it sitting on the sea was completely amazing.

We chose the lunch. It was quite delicious and the whole tour sat together at a large table configuration.

I highly recommend this tour! It helped make this a really amazing holiday.

Blanes is a really nice place with a beach and walk above the sea. Tossa de Mar is another nice beach in the city located by the medieval castle. Full lunch in between was great.

The weather was awful so it wasn’t perfect it truly has the potential. Either way it was a good trip worth the money and the time. The lunch was big and the guy with us was very friendly and nice.

Berta, our tour guide, was amazing! She made the trip so wonderful. She was very informative and nice. She tried so hard to make sure everyone was included and enjoying themselves. This tour was a nice break away from the busy city of Barcelona. Tossa de mar was a highlight. The beaches and gardens were beautiful. We had time for a quick swim as well as time to walk around the gardens and see the beautiful coastline from nice view points. Lunch was very authentic and good. It was a lot of driving but very worth it. I would have liked to have more time in Tossa de Mar as there was a beautiful beach and an awesome old town with great views and shopping. I would highly recommend this trip as the views are stunning!

This was a beautiful tour! To begin, Alex was a personable and intelligent tour guide sharing with us the traditions and celebrations of Sant Joan that take place in Barcelona. It was a wonderful way to immerse in the culture and ways the people in Barcelona celebrate- and why. He even bought coca for us to try! It was such a kind gesture. Marcelo, the driver, was careful and made me feel comfortable the entire time.
It’s hard to pick a favorite out of this trip. But Blanes and the traditional lunch were equally as special. Catalan lunch following the botanical garden and time spent at the beach was something that made for a relaxing and lovely day. Such a great day and highly recommend!

Great trip for beach lovers. If you love the Beach this is a must. We went to Tossa del Mar and another beach by Costa Brava. You have the option to go to the botanical garden or stay at the beach.
