Private Jungle Waterfall Adventure, Wit Da Native Hawaiian Dundee

My family and I truly enjoyed this unique, private adventure! Dundee (aka Charlie) takes time to ensure everyone in the group understands and is comfortable with the repelling and ascending equipment and has the correct apparel for the trip. If you have a sense of adventure and are looking for something different than the run of the mill tourist experiences then this trip is for you! The bonus is you get to meet Shadow, the sweet yet shy doggie who keeps a close eye on you the entire way and makes sure no one wanders off the path. The vistas cannot be beat and not found on any other trip. Tour includes a refreshing swim in a waterfall with optional cliff jumping! We can’t wait to come back and do Dundee’s other adventures for returning customers!
Some tips: Lightweight pants are a MUST and I definitely recommend long sleeve sun shirt and neck gaiter and hat. The mosquitos are NO JOKE and the proper clothing works better than repellant. Waterproof hiking boots would be better than the Keen hiking sandals we had but if that’s all you have, they’re better than sneakers. Helps to be in reasonably good shape, this is of course, a tour through the wild with limited cell service.

Charlie is a great guide and person! We loved experiencing Kauai in its most natural state and through a local’s point of view. Swimming and jumping off the waterfall were definitely highlights. We also enjoyed getting a taste of repelling and ascending.

Charlie, your love of and care for animals is unparalleled. Wishing the best for you and all the ones you care for!

(Worth noting—if mosquitos love you (and they love me), wear long sleeves and pants and heavy duty repellant while on the tour. You will also want to reapply it while on the tour.)

This was an exciting hike through the Kauai jungle with an amazing guide, Charlie 'Da Hawaiian Dundee'. He is so knowledgeable and engaging with his stories and keeps you looking forward to the next interesting thing he might tell you about or show you.

The hike itself is an adventure! Definitely wear long pants, long sleeved shirts, and closed toed shoes. Make sure you have bug spray on before you repel down to the bottom of the canyon... that's where the mosquito swarms are.

Our family loved this hike and adventure with Charlie and Shadow! Charlie - if you're still doing these tours on our next visit, you'll be seeing us again. Thank you so much for making this such a memorable time for us all. This will be something we talk about for years and years to come. WooHoo and Mahalo nui loa!

Charlie had amazing communication before our hike. He’s fully prepared and knowledgeable to bring you into the private trails and see hidden gems no one else could show you. We even were the first to encounter a few hunting dogs during our excursion!! Be sure to dress appropriate for backwoods hiking trails and I promise……. you will have memories to last a lifetime!!

Charlie was AWESOME! I have never repelled 1 foot let alone 20 stories and it was amazing! Shadow, a dog he is working on trust with to rescue from the jungle stayed with us the entire trip! Bring her snacks! Long fast dry pants, long sleeve quick dry shirt and socks and tennis shoes is all you need. Oh and bug spray which I should have applied. We did top notch excursions on our honeymoon but none were as special and rewarding. Must do!!!! Five 🌟 is just not enough for this experience! Thank you Hawaiian Dundee! Thank you Shadow for staying in back and on the lookout for everyone. One special dog!

What a perfect day rappelling, hiking and swimming in a beautiful area that we would have never seen had it not been for Hawaiian Dundee Charlie. He guided us safely through our first rappelling adventure, a jungle hike, and a swim to revive our mana. This man is an amazing human being. Hang out with him for an afternoon and he’ll entertain you, educate you, and leave you with a feeling of immense gratitude for the land and the people of Hawaii.

Amazing experience with “The Hawaiian Dundee”! He is such a caring, professional guide. He provides a personalized experience tailored to the needs of your group. I had my 67 year old mother and 14 year old son with varying ability levels. He provided exceptional guidance that allowed everyone to rappel down to the waterfall and make it back out over streams and switchbacks. He coached everyone through the tough parts and his easy going demeanor kept everyone going. He is also an awesome human being who takes care of stray dogs he’s encountered along the trail. He has three rescue dogs. He’s currently feeding another stray “Shadow,” as he works to build her trust and eventually bring her home out of the jungle. Shadow cautiously greeted us when we arrived at the start of the trail. He fed her and she followed us on our entire adventure. She was wary, but kept us company, checking on us if we fell behind. It made the experience so much more meaningful. We are hopeful that soon Shadow will allow him to bring her home. If you are looking for an epic adventure in Kauai, this is the one!

This was the best experience my husband and I booked in Kauai, hands down. Da Hawaiian Dundee treated us like family and made us feel super comfortable. We learned so much and gained more confidence in ourselves in the water. We also got the privilege to hike with a shy dog named Shadow who I now love very much!! If you want something to do, this is well worth the money. We will 100% be coming back to Kauai and booking with him again! We loved it so much and would recommended it to anyone we know. We felt very safe with him and had a blast!

Charlie is outstanding. He gave us first rate instruction, filled us with lots of local knowledge, provided a tour we could never find on our own and gave us memories to last a lifetime. If you’re up for an adventure off the normal beaten path, this trip is for you. We learned repelling, ascending and jumped from a waterfall in one beautiful and glorious day. Charlie is just a quality human being to wrap it up. And I can’t forget Shadow who kept watch over us. All in all it was fantastic. Thank you!!!

Had an AMAZING time with da jungle Dundee! We went on a 4+hour hike and didn’t pass a single sole. He gave us individual attention when instructing us how to rappel down the mountain and we felt safe. We made a gentle friend, Shadow who is a lost hunting dog. Shadow followed us the entire hike. But WAIT… it gets better…
Da Jungle Dundee took us to a private water fall that we got to climb up, jump off and swim under. We learned about the land and some history of Hawaii but it wasn’t too much or too dry. The perfect amount!
In other words, this excursion was by far, our most amazing memory from Hawaii. If we ever return, we will be doing this again!
