So much fun and so educational at the same time. I received the Italian cooking class as a Mother's Day gift from my son. My husband, son, and I went to the class in Boston together, and the three of us learned so much and had a great time. Chef John was awesome! He taught us so much and the night flew by. Chef John made sure that everyone in the class participated and that we all had fun. We learned how to make Chicken Marsala, ravioli, fettuccini, pasta sauce, and stretched and made mozzarella cheese. Who knew what went into that Process! Wine and soft drinks and snacks were available all night, then we ended the evening by eating the food we made together. This was a great experience and we thought it was well worth the money. I would recommend this Self Up class, and we plan on signing up for more of the Self Up classes. Thank you Chef John and Self Up! :)

Delicious and fun for all ages! I was there with two teenagers and we all had a blast and went home thoroughly stuffed. Exactly as described in the Viator info.

We had an amazing experience on our company team outing today! Chef Ed was a phenomenal head chef who gave great instructions and coached us seamlessly through the entire process. Chef Owen was also quick to set up the different areas for us to make the process easy! They constantly asked questions to keep us involved and the meal at the end was so delicious ! Definitely will be coming back with friends next time!

Chef Gary was very knowledgeable and provided such great information & tips that I will now incorporate into my everyday cooking. He made our cooking experience less intimidating. The food was delicious!!!! Alanna, assistant chef, was great! She was so personable as well & too contributed to our great experience. Will definitely recommend to our family & friends for when visiting Boston as well as returning upon our next visit.

Positives first — There was a lot of wine, the attendees were nice, and the chef made an effort to keep things entertaining.

Cons —
1. We waited outside in the literally freezing weather with no instruction of what to do/when to go in. The sign said “ring the doorbell” but over 20 people were stuck outside.
2. It does not match the description at all.
Two types of pasta were made (not four), the number of attendees exceeded 20 (making for a jam packed class), and not much cooking was done (a lot of watching happened, ~70% of the class time).
3. A lot of the other cons are related to food. Since there were so many people the snacks they laid out were sufficient for maybe 1/2 the amount of people (no refills). Both pastas were extremely hard (ravioli and fettuccini), the “mozzarella” tasted like it came from a box, and the tiramisu had no flavor (even coffee flavor unfortunately).

It might be worth it if it were half the cost.

I was part of a company outing with Haemonetics at your location at 19 Kingston Street in Boston this evening.

Our chef, Gary, and his assistant Erin, we're both amazing!

We had fun and we learned some things and we topped it all off with a great meal.

I'm already trying to find an excuse to book another event at this location!

And I would definitely want Gary and Erin to be our crew.

Great concept for a business and a job well done.

Thank you!

The TripAdvisor information states that the dinner is limited to 20 people. When we arrived, there were at least 40 people in attendance. One of the staff members told me that on the weekends they “let members of the public attend.” I am curious to know whether or not the “members of the public” were charged the $150+ per person. In any event, having 40 people participate in a cooking class is both unsanitary and off-putting. We left immediately after we arrived. I use TripAdvisor routinely to research restaurants, and have found TripAdvisor to be a helpful resource. However, this particular event seems to have been inaccurately advertised.
