We had a lovely time on the 3 day/ 2 night Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. The views along the trails were amazing, the accommodation was great, and the food prepared by the chefs that travelled with us was fantastic. Our guide, Nico, was very supportive and a great source of information.
One note to be aware of: we didn’t realise this beforehand but we were joining a group that was doing the 4 day / 3 night trek on their 2nd day, which felt a little strange at the start as we weren’t sure what was going on. Also, there was some miscommunication regarding our driver from Cusco to the first campsite, who got us there late for the start of our first day.
These caveats aside, this was a fantastic and incredibly memorable experience, which I would highly recommend.

We had an absolutely amazing and memorable time on the 3-day trek with Porfirio! The hike itself was challenging and Porfirio was incredibly helpful in helping me press through and showing me how to breathe at elevation. At many points of the hike we referred to his experience and expertise to guide us and he never failed, it was a phenomenal time because of him and we couldn’t recommend him more!

Porfirio was the most amazing guide!! He prioritized our safety while ensuring we had a great time. Several things went wrong due to Mother Nature but Porfirio was a true professional! He stayed calm, helped us through, and made sure we had a great time. This is a challenging hike, and we could have not have asked for a better guide than Porfirio!! Certainly request him if you choose to do this hike!!!

This is a challenging trek but absolutely worth the experience. Porfirio was an amazing guide and he helped keep spirits high the entire length of the trek. He’s extremely knowledgeable, passionate and makes the trek very enjoyable!
Definitely hope to do another longer trek with Porfirio in the future.

Salkantay Trekking was amazing! Big thanks to our tour guide, Javier Mollinedo, who took care of us and made us have very good experience for the Salkantay Trek. I was having altitude sickness and he pushed me to finish the trek. He motivated me and helped me with the hard parts. I couldnt have done it without him!
Salkantay Trekking had a very good response team too. We had a series of landslide that we needed to pass through to continue the trek and the team was able to make us pass safely.
And, The accomodation and food was good too!

It has been a challenging but a very rewarding experience. It was my first time hiking / trekking and I couldn’t be happier that Javier was our guide. He was our physical trainer, shaman, psychologist, encyclopedia all in one. There were landslides after the rain all night - it was amazing how Javier and the rest of the Salkantay team cleared the path mad sure we were still following our itinerary. Kudos to our chef and our horsemen as well who worked extra hard given the circumstances. Highly recommend SALKANTAY TREKKING and request for JAVIER!

Big big thanks to Javier and all the Salkantay team! The trail was amazing, and on the second day we had a lot of fresh landslides on the way that destroyed the road. The full team had to immediately find a solution, and built new trails to help us go through, and had our bags carried from one place to another by hand as no horses or cars could go through. They managed to have all the groups go through safely and without delays! I was very impressed by how they handled professionally the situation and ensure that all of the hikers were safe!
Javier was amazing, and had a great wealth of knowledge about the mountains we crossed as well as the Inca culture in general.
And also a big thanks to the Chef who carried over all the food and made delicious meals for us, as well as the horseman who ensured that our belongings arrived on time and dry at destination!
