Puerto Plata is much more than paradisiacal beaches. Its historic center houses a set of buildings and houses in neoclassical and Victorian style dating from the late nineteenth century, as well as beautiful avenues full of shops, restaurants and bars where you can have a good time.
The cathedral and the fortress of San Felipe are two essential places to see in Puerto Plata. The latter was built in 1577 to defend the city from pirate attacks, here also enjoy a visit to the street of umbrellas and also visit the chocolate factory, rum factory and the pink street.

Patient, kind, wonderful, I got the true essence of Puerto Plata thanks to Tamara Cans . I’m so grateful for his hospitality!! He gave us a great introduction to the DR!!! I recommend him 100 times God bless him and God bless the Dominican Republic I hope to see him again soon!!

I recently had the pleasure of taking a Puerto Plata city tour with Tamares as our driver, and I must say it was an exceptional experience! From the moment we met Tamares at the port, we knew we were in good hands. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about showing us the best of Puerto Plata.

Our guide was amazing, so knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, it was a very rainy day and a holiday, which we were not informed of when we booked. But he made our tour interesting and fun even though some things were closed and it was pouring rain. He also had two umbrellas, which made it easier for us to walk and see things. I would definitely highly recommend this tour. Just not on a holiday.

Tamares was friendly and knowledgeable. He didn't mind customizing us a tour as we did not want to go to the beach but wanted to enjoy all of Puerta Plata, take a few pictures, and eat some good food. He did not disappoint! I will definitely reach out to him again when in Puerta Plaza.

Was a great experience to visit city centre. Puerto Plata Playa Dorada beach indeed very nice. If you are looking for a quieter experience to Punta Cana, Puerto Plata is it.

Very kind, polite, friendly and competent person... he took us on a wide-ranging sightseeing tour of Puerto Plata, visiting the Rum factory, the Oro chocolate house, the historic center, the fortress and finishing with a good lunch based on lobster, leaving us time for souvenir purchases 😊
