Start your day by meeting our friendly local guide at or near your Queenstown accommodation. You'll travel in style in a premium Mercedes van designed for touring with only 16 seats onboard. The first leg of our journey to Milford Sound transports you from Queenstown through the picturesque Southland farming country and the charming town of Te Anau, where we'll make a brief stop by the lakeside for refreshments.

Lake Te Anau is in the southwestern corner of the South Island of New Zealand. The lake covers an area of 344 km², making it the second-largest lake by surface area in New Zealand and the largest in the South Island. It is the largest lake in Australasia by fresh water volume.

From here, we welcome you to the Fiordland National Park and the renowned Milford Road. This corridor to the fjord unveils a different side of New Zealand, with its majestic mountains, winding rivers, and the cheeky Kea bird. Throughout the journey, your guide will make multiple stops for photo opportunities, and short walks, and will entertain you with fascinating local facts and stories.

Within the Eglinton Valley you’ll also find the famous Mirror Lakes and Knobs Flat.

The Homer Tunnel is a 1.2 km long road tunnel in the Fiordland region of the South Island of New Zealand, opened in 1953. New Zealand State Highway 94 passes through the tunnel, linking Milford Sound to Te Anau and Queenstown, by piercing the Darran Mountain range at the Homer Saddle

Upon reaching Milford Sound, embark on a 2 hour nature cruise that takes you beneath the towering peaks of the fjord. This small boat cruise, accompanied by a knowledgeable onboard nature guide, allows you to explore the edges of the fjord, revealing its impressive waterfalls and unique wildlife, which may include dolphins, penguins, fur seals, and native birdlife.

After your cruise, you will be introduced to your pilot, who will take you to the skies on a truly incredible scenic flight back to Queenstown. Travelling on a fixed-wing plane, this flight is approximately 45 minutes and offers aerial views of Milford Sound and Queenstown, alongwith the impressive snow-capped mountains, glaciers and braided rivers in between.

Arrive back in Queenstown and be transferred back to your meeting point by the flight company

This was a really great tour! Our tour guide, Kevin, was very nice and had a great personality! He was informative and shared a lot of history with us along the way!
We took a boat through Milford Sound and it was beautiful! The weather was great for us that day!

We loved this tour! They had great communication, and prompt pick up. Tommy our guide was amazing, taking us to cool out of the way places, and always willing to take photos, and had great tidbits along the way. Safe driver also. Then we did a flight back truesouthflights pilot Jason. Felt very comfortable and such a cool (and fast) way to see the mountains and queenstown from above. Picture perfect blue sky day. Amazing!

First of all shout out to Chelsea our tour guide. She did everything to make the whole journey fun and comfortable. She was very helpful, sweet and very knowledgeable. We recommend altitude if you are going to any tour in queenstiown. We use the same company going to glenorchy as well with shanai, she was wonderful very funny woman. Until next time we use altitude again. Thank you.

I had a great time on this tour. The small-group nature allowed for a more intimate experience, and our small van went where some of the big buses don't go. The Fjordland scenery was incredible. The tour which mixed van, cruise, and flight, allowed for a variety of perspectives. Our van driver, Nev, a helicopter pilot, radiated enthusiasm for his work, and provided some interesting, and some funny, insights. The cruise was on a friendly small ship, versus the giant ones cruising the Sound. Finally, the flight back was amazing, soaring near the tops of the giant peaks. (Also, do order the optional lunch -- it was bigger and better than I thought it would be.)

This was one of the best tours we have ever been on. Our guide Sinchan was personable, funny and so incredibly knowledgeable. He took time to understand the interests of all of us in our tour group and went out of his way to point out particular items of interest to each of us. It was unforgettable!

What a memorable day we had! When I mentioned to someone before our tour that we had made arrangements with Altitude Tours, their response was, “Oh, they are a very well run, first class operation” and I couldn’t agree more!

Our driver/guide Andy was the best!! He really made the trip special for us.

He had lots of great information to share and knew just when, and how much, to share during the early morning portion of the tour when most people weren’t yet fully awake.

This was an exceptional tour. A small group of 16 people in a comfortable Mercedes Van. The guide Nev was great, and the scenery was absolutely amazing. We managed to travel on a beautiful day which meant great views and comfort of environment when hoping out at stops.
