Located approximately 2 hours north of Santiago, near the city of Los Andes, lies the beautiful town of Portillo. You don’t want to miss this if you love snow and nature. Portillo surprises many with the beauty of the valley in which is located, a big lagoon called “Laguna del Inca” (Inca’s Lagoon) associated with a beautiful legend that inspires love to first time visitors of Portillo. This service can be on shared transportation with a maximum group of 7 persons per vehicle. Yes, we do have face masks. We ask tour participants to please bring their own masks, ideally reusable. As we are an ecological company we prefer not to have to use disposable masks to avoid contamination.

The Monument to the Victory of Chacabuco, also known as the Monument to the Battle of Chacabuco (truly To the Victory of Chacabuco). Is a monument that commemorates the Battle of Chacabuco which took place on February 12, 1817. It was designed by Héctor Román Latorre and built in 1971. It is 20 meters tall.

Los Andes, founded in July 31, 1791 as Santa Rosa de Los Andes, is a Chilean city and commune located in the province of the same name, in Valparaíso Region ("Fifth Region" of Chile). It lies on the route between Santiago and Chile's primary border crossing with Argentina by way of the summit of the Uspallata Pass in the Andes mountain range.

One of the world’s most iconic and well-loved ski resorts, famous for its sunny yellow lodge and location perched above the stunning Inca Lake in the heart of the Andes. The resort is located about 2 hours northeast of Santiago and is run as a multiday, package-based resort with a maximum of 450 guests, so runs are uncrowded and lift lines non-existent. Enjoy the view of Inca Lagon and their history Legend tells that the spirit of the Inca, Illi Yunqui, that haunts the watery tomb in which he buried his soul-mate, the Princess Kora-Illé, who had tragically fallen from a cliff during a royal mountain banquet (a nascu). The Inca Yunqui, whose grief shook the mountain, believed that no earthly grave could compare with this lake. Shrouded in white linen, she was lowered into the blue depths in the presence of the grief-stricken imperial court. From that moment, the waters were tinted with the emerald shade of the beautiful eyes that the heir of the sun could awaken no more.

Located 28 kilometers from the city, by the International road. It is a geological formation produced by erosion, with impressive rocky walls at the bottom of which the Aconcagua River passes. Halfway up, between tunnels, the Trasandino railway is visible. It is called Salto del Soldado by the legend that is related in this regard: a patriotic soldier managed to avoid the realistic persecution, making a spectacular jump over this natural formation.

Cancelaron el tour aduciendo complicaciones climáticas nunca devolvieron el dinero. Son unos ladrones.

They canceled the tour citing weather complications and never returned the money. They are thiefs.

Unfortunately the tour was canceled due to terrible weather conditions and they suggested changing it to the Vale Nevado tour.

Diego Pablos was a great guide, very friendly and gave plenty of interesting information in both perfect English and Spanish. The tour was good value and the time given at the stops was just right. We got to see the Chile border as well which was a highlight

Our flight was delayed and we had an extra day to tour. We scheduled our tour with anticipation because the Andes were not visible in Santiago because of cloud cover. MTO gave us a pick-up time of 06:55 at our hotel. At 07:09 I requested an ETA. Tour guide Diego Pablo's responded "15 minutes". 45 minutes I texted for another update. Nothing. I called him 6 times and texted him 8 times in the next 30 minutes. I texted MTO and they wouldn't reply. After 90 minutes we gave up, very disappointed.

Trip was canceled at midnight, six hours before pickup.

I understand things come up and would not have minded if the trip was canceled 24hrs ahead. Six hrs notice is not enough time to rebook with another guide.

We were originally booked on to the Cajon Del Maipo tour but received an email the day before stating that due to safety issues the tour was unable to go ahead. We were offered a full refund or the option of
The Portillo tour instead.
The lagoon and the mountains were stunning and gave good photo opportunities. The guide was good and made the day a lot better than it could have been with the knowledge and information he shared.
It seemed to be a long day in mini van for not a lot of gain. We spent a lot of time at stops along the way which all seemed rather unnecessary; buying snow gear, getting coffee and then a place for lunch that only did a buffet (not food everyone will eat).

Overall the day was ok but not something I would recommend as a must do whilst you are in Chile. If we could chose again we would take a refund instead.

Recommendations:
- Pack warm and cool clothing depending on time of year (Very different in the mountain compared to Santiago).
- Don't buy any snow gear - you don’t need it!
- Take your own lunch and water, it is more than enough.
