We are certified tour guides with many years of experience on the Parque Nacional da Tijuca.
On this particular trail we will visit the historical circuit, where Brazilians in the past used to grow coffee and raised livestock. We still can see some of the ancient buildings of that time during the hike.
Along the trail, hikers can enjoy a wide variety of plants and wildlife. Together We will talk about their characteristics and their interaction with the environment.
We also promote environmental awareness and collaborate with different NGO's working for protection and conservation of nature.

Thomas Arias is a unique person. Bearer of unique kindness, attention and empathy. In addition to his heart of gold and all the peace he conveys, he knows every little space on the tours he offers. I learn a lot, every time, about nature, climbing, forest animals, sustainability… about what it means to do what you love. Thom was born to guide and he does it with public love. I am a great admirer of the work offered by EcotuRio and the unique experience of getting to know Rio guided by Thom!

This was so fab! I've done the food, the samba, the beaches, and enough caipirinhas to make me worry about my blood glucose level... what I needed was some nature. And Thomas provided.
His passion and enthusiasm are infectious. His explanations of the local flaura and fauna but also the area's history are illuminating. His ability to judge the group and create a tailored visit must be unique. The photos he took are precious.
QYou are in safe hands.

It was really good and we got to learn a lot of new information about the forest and Brazil’s history :)
The fact that Thomas tailored the hike based on the people in the group made it a great experience. Would recommend!

Had the best time with Thomas! He was full of energy and was so funny, interesting in his stories and facts about the what we saw, and he customized the tour to suit what we were looking for. He was so accommodating when our Uber dropped us off at the wrong place and was so patient waiting for us. We will remember this as a highlight of our trip to Rio!

Not far from Rio is a quiet and peaceful National Park, Tijuca. Home to several waterfalls, trees, plants and animals, this spot was raw and calming. I didn’t see a monkey or a sloth, next time. Did a little hiking, saw the 300 year old tree which I walked around 3 times and made a wish, and saw a waterfall! Magical!

I booked this tour with my husband and we were lucky enough to receive a private tour with Thomas as we were the only people to book that day. He realised we were keen hikers and adapted the route to suit us, so we were able to see a lot of the park, its waterfalls, and visit more than one cave. We also had time to watch some Macao prego monkeys having a snack! The tour was set at a great pace and Thomas shared his extensive knowledge of the park with us with great enthusiasm. I highly recommend visiting the park with Thomas. As well as a fantastic day, he also provided us with photos and videos afterwards and shared recommendations for our next stop in Brazil with us. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rio.
