We really enjoyed this Douro river boat tour. Our guide Paulo met us on time and was very informative. Fluent in English and Portugese, he told all about the area. We had grat weather and the views from the river were spectacular. We also enjoyed some vinho verde on board which was a special and much appreciated treat. We plan to repeat this tour when we visit Porto again!

Antonio was outstanding. He’s knowledgable and enthusiastic. He shared many interesting stories of the history of the river and life in Portugal. It was a beautiful afternoon on his boat. We especially liked that it is a family run business and that he adapted the tour to our needs and preferences. I highly recommend this tour!

This was a 5+ star experience. This is a small family business ran by Antonio and his parents, our particular trip had his mom as the captain and Antonio as the guide. He picked us up on time. The boat is newer and had cool and comfy seating. Antonio was quite knowledgeable as he talked about the history of the sites along the way. He answered all of our questions and engaged us in easy, relaxing conversation. We enjoyed wine and homemade port along the way. I especially appreciated how he purposefully engaged our 16yr old in points of history and soccer. Both he and his mom were so pleasant, fun and at the same time very professional. This was so cool and so worth it!
Quick background - we are traveling as a family of three. My family thinks it’s corny, but the first thing I like to do in any city is some kind of guided tour by bus or boat just to get acclimated and to learn a bit about the history and culture before we hit the ground running. We typically do the group tours as they are cheaper, so we save some money up front to spend it all on crap at the souvenir shops. We were spending only 3 days in Porto after spending 7 days in a much larger city where every activity required a long wait in long lines, so if we had to join any more lines for a tour — I knew there would be mutiny on my hands…so this started as somewhat of a compromise and turned into the best thing ever and most favored experience of the trip for all 3 of us.

Antonio was an incredible tour/boat captain going into detail on everything we saw from the boat. Relaxed atmosphere for our family of 5 (teenagers), delicious green wine and port. Knowledgeable on bridges, architecture and history of Portugal. Highly recommend!
