Enjoy the tour of the recent volcanic eruption in Iceland. The tour is safe and along with the Volcano eruption adventure, we have added many other places to the tour itinerary to make the tour more and more enjoyable for our guests :)

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our day tour will begin with our fast and efficient pick-up service. We will come to pick you up from either, one of the hotels in the center of Reykjavik or from one of the many pick-up spots dotted across the city. When pick-up is completed then we will leave the city and begin our journey.

After leaving the capital, you'll travel to the volcanic landscapes of the Reykjanes Peninsula. The Reykjanes Peninsula runs along the Mid-Atlantic Rift, which divides the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. Despite its placement between two tectonic plates, no volcanic eruptions were documented there for 800 years. However, when the Fagradalsfjall volcano erupted in March 2021, everything changed. The eruption lasted 6 months and brought hundreds of tourists to the site with a spectacular show of fountaining red-hot lava.

Embark on an unparalleled adventure: bear witness to a live volcanic eruption and molten magma! Our knowledgeable guide will pick you up from Reykjavik, and together, you'll embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. The journey to reach the Litli Hrutur Active Volcano demands physical endurance, spanning up to 10 kilometers each way. However, the rewards are truly exceptional, offering breathtaking sceneries of vast lava fields and the captivating spectacle of an ongoing eruption. Upon reaching the volcano's location, you'll be privy to the beautiful formation of these lava fields, witnessing the mesmerizing display of fresh lava spewing and flowing.

Seltùn (Geothermal site in Krysuvik) - You don't have to travel far from Reykjavik to see vibrant geothermal sites, Seltún is one of those sites. Visiting Seltùn, like all geothermal locations in Iceland, is like entering into another universe. Seltún has both bubbling mud pools and boiling hot springs.

Kleifarvatn is the largest lake on the Reykjanes Peninsula. This area is well-known for its geothermal and geological activities, and the landscape is coated with a thick coating of lava. We will have a quick yet amazing drive by the lake.

Never book this tour, the tour was cancelled but never told us until the last minute unless we initiate a call to them if not they will not tell you anything about it

BEWARE!!!!! Bus never showed up. Waited for almost an hour in the cold. No communication from the tour company after several attempts. Asked the hotel to please try and contact. Phone number listed wasn’t real and googling produced another number that when answered said “this is the wrong tour company your calling” was very rude. Viator was excellent through the process and got me my money back quick.

They never responded after confirming my payment was received, then did not show up at the bus stop. Viator also tried to reach them to no avail. They should have never processed my payment of the operator was unresponsive. Still waiting for my refund. Very disappointing.

Was a very long walk but an experience I’ll likely never get to see again. The lava was still smoking from the last time it erupted and you get to walk along the safe parts. Tour guide was hilarious, snack wasn’t great as it was dried fish, very specific taste even for fish eaters! Great view when you get to the top. If you’re unfit though it can be a bit of a mission up and no one stops for a breather!

Our tour guide said he was having engine trouble and cancelled our tour. We waited for the bus for half an hour I finally had to call him to find out what was going on. It was our last day and too late to book anything else, so our last day in Iceland was ruined. You would think that they would have more than one vehicle

We almost missed our tour because I had mistook our arrival time. Speedy, who organizes EVERYTHING behind the scenes, shuffled manifests around and ensured we didn't miss the unbelievable opportunity to see the volcanic eruption. We were nearly an hour late but he worked his magic and we actually got to see one of the most spectacular sights of the world. Peter, our pilot, was very safety minded, professional and personable - a difficult combination to achieve.
Viewing the eruption was on par with Angor Wat, Petra, and the pyramids of Egypt. If possible, don't let the price stop you because it is truly a once in a lifetime experience!

We enjoyed the tour. Our guide, Johannes, told us at the beginning of the tour that we would not be able to do the hiking part of the tour. That was disappointing but out of his control. He had a lot of information about Iceland he shared and answered all the questions we had. He was a very pleasant young man. It was disappointing that the name of the tour includes “Icelandic snacks” but the only snack offered was dried fish and butter to dip it in. I really don’t like fish.

Unfortunately, this tour was not as described. We expected a hike up a volcano - minimum 10km, which did not happen. We visited a number of geothermal plants and a new volcano field which was great but not at all as described. The title suggests 'Icelandic snacks' which did not happen either.

Our trip went ahead but we were stopped from going to the volcano and no idea why. The trip should have been cancelled and shame on Viator for allowing it to go shead knowing full well we could not get there. Instead we were substituted with the worse tour ever - and our poor driver did his best. However we spent nearly £200 pounds (for 2) on seeing nothing but rocks and a hot spring and a bridge - not what we paid for. And 4 hours in a van and no toilet break for over 3 hours. Lunch was in a car park - so much for Icelandic snacks that should have been included but never came. I'll be looking for full refund.

Company cancelled at midnight before our scheduled tour the next morning. I understand that cancellations can happen, but to wait until midnight was so frustrating as they gave us no time to try and plan something different for our last day of vacation. I had also emailed them some questions a couple of weeks before our trip, and never heard back. I would definitely recommend looking for a different tour company to book with.
