Discover the ancient Fuerteventura with this excursion which consist in two easy medium-level hikes in the center of the island within the rural park of Betancuria in the area known as Barranco de las Peñitas and another one to the southwest within the natural monument of Montaña del Cardón. At the beginning of March 2024, I was very lucky to experience various hikes together with a small hiking group led by Miguel Martinez. My expectations of the trip that I had in advance of my planned break from everyday life were exceeded and overwhelmed me.
Miguel, as an islander, showed us the originality of Fuerteventura away from the tourist resorts with ease and enthusiasm for his selected routes.
We learned something about the historical background, the flora and fauna that are worth protecting and also the difficulties that the island has to contend with. The atmosphere was balanced, relaxed and happy and so the anticipation of the next tour was always great!
I managed to switch off from everyday life and immerse myself in the island world in no time and it was a perfectly relaxing week with many special moments and friendly people.
My thanks go to our guide, Miguel, for a special Fuerte trip that will be remembered for a long time!

I recently visited Fuerteventura for a week. I wanted to see the island away from the tourist areas and was advised to contact Mahan Trekking.
The website is easy to use with good information on the tours available, what is included and what the guests require to have.
The day was well organised. I met Miguel at the time advised. He had equipment with him to assist people who aren't experienced, such as walking poles.
The tour was a good opportunity to see different parts of the island. Miguel added to this with his knowledge of the environment and history of the area.
I highly recommend Mahan Trekking.

Nice landscapes and Miguel prepare a good tradicional foods in the middle of the excursion. I recomend everybody who wants have a unique experoence in Fuerteventura
