While you can't stay overnight on Saona Island—it's part of a national park—it makes for a great day out on the island 30-minute speedboat if you’re pressed for time. Visiting Saona Island is best done as part of a tour that includes snorkeling and a stop at the waist-deep Blue Lagoon, where you will be able to see starfish.

Average trip to Soana Island on a semi private tour. There were 4 of us, and the service wasnt exceptional despite claiming they deliver amazing service. We visited 7 areas, best being starfish island yet we found the starfish and other sea life. We didnt see turtles despite being told there is lots? Soana island was nice but spent less then 1.5hr there, though food was good. Guide spent most the time on the boat, and 'resting' on the way back. Not money well spent, lax response to messages explaining we were unhappy yet no apology and moderator removes messages when your opinion doesnt suit theres

Saona tour
We booked our private Saona tour back home in the UK after reading some fabulous reviews. This was done very easily with great communication. We were kept up to date regularly until our trip. Orlando was amazing from start to finish. We got picked up from hotel in a lovely air conditioned vehicle and our first stop was to the liquor store to purchase drinks we would like on day, this included rum, beer, soft drinks and champagne. We then went to the boat pick up point and was put on our private speed boat for 6 of us. There were three boats in our group, all with amazing staff and they kept us informed of everything we saw on our stops. We had a fun filled first ride bouncing over the waves. We had a quick stop at the caves where the film Blue Lagoon was filmed, we then went into the natural pool and stopped for about 40-45 mins with waist high beautiful clear blue sea, we saw star fish and sting rays. We had some lovely drinks to relax in the sea, the boat photographer took some lovely pictures of our memories there. We then set off again, our next stop was the location scene on the beach where survivor was filmed. We then drove to the mangroves where the Atlantic and Caribbean Sea meet and we saw lots of turtles. Then we went on to Saona Island to our private beach. It was small
and secluded with a couple of small shops for gifts if you wish, there was no hassle from anyone. There were small covered eating areas where food was brought over to you, no queuing anywhere. We had amazing fried chicken, pork, salad, vegetables, pasta and fruit with complimentary beer and soft drinks. We had some time to swim and explore and take some nice pictures or rest on the sunbeds or hammocks. Before we set off we had time to look
At the pictures the photographer took and purchase them. We then set off to another natural pool where we could relax and have a few drinks and a swim. The weather starting getting dark so we set off for docking bay. Another lively ride back home had us all laughing and bouncing about. We loved everything about the tour and would recommend it. Right from the start we knew what to expect, we were told that the staff all rely on the tips we pay them and they suggest a percentage before we got there, this is then split equally between them all, you do not have to worry about individual tips for drivers, food staff, boat staff etc you give them one amount and they sort it all out, this was so much easier for everyone involved and made sure the staff had the appreciation they deserved for their hard work. A must tour when visiting Dominican Republic.

Best. Experience. We are picky and like a more exclusive experience. Very professional from the booking until the drop off. They brought our favorite drinks for us and they tailor your trip to your groups wants and have the best crew, very energetic and overall great experience.
We watched the resort people packed like sardines and not get half the service and experience we did. So glad we didn't book with the resort and went with them. I'll be back and will definitely use them again in the future!
Orlando and Cassanova thank you again for a fabulous trip and experience. You're the best!

Our private speed boat excursion was great! It was our 25th anniversary, celebrated with some friends. Our driver that picked us up at the resort, Vacky was the most polite guy. We had fun with him on the ride to the boat. We only briefly meet Orlando when we stopped by the liquor store. Our guide, Cassanova and the boat crew were great! Cassanova took some great pictures of our group. The food we had on the island was great. We opted out to go back to the nature pool for some extra time on the island and they were fine with that. I highly recommend their excursions based on our experience

Definitely recommend this trip with BIA travels. Was easy and very impressed with the help needed and guided for the right trip for my family of 6, great price for a totally private speed boat trip to the island, we were picked up from our hotel on time in a very comfortable mini van with great air con. Arrived at the dock and got straight on the boat which had great canopy to shield from the sun if you wanted..stopping on the way to touch the star fish, see sting Ray's, turtles, swimming in natural spa waters (so warm), seeing where survivor was filmed, the caves where pirates of the Caribbean was filmed, our guide, captain and photographer were amazing, nothing too much trouble. A delicious lunch was organised for us and so much food we couldn't eat it all. Great selection of beer, soft drinks and bubbles. Amazing day

Orlando was freaking awesome. He drove us through the city and told us a lot of history about Punta Cana. Then we spent the day with Captain Lee and Casanova. Casanova did a fantastic job giving us the history behind the places they were taking us and he is a great photographer as well. Captain Lee understood the assignment with my crazy friends wanting to take the speed boat as fast as it could go! I feel we all had a fantastic time. Orlando picked us up and on the way back he even stopped to get us the best empanadas ever! I would highly recommend doing this excursion!
