Great Wall at Gubeikou and Jinshanling Private Sunset Tour

This was without doubt the most amazing experience. From the hotel pickup at 11.00am to the drop off at 10.00pm, every aspect of the tour was superb. Our guide Adele spoke perfect English, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone, but be aware, some of the steps are very steep and uneven.

If you love crowded tourist spots and a Disney like experience this is not the tour for you. But, if like us, you enjoy a more authentic experience then I highly recommend this tour. The first stop was a section of the wall with minimal restoration done and almost no one else there. It was about a 20min hike up to the wall and from there we walked for almost 2 hours traversing the wall until we looped down to our starting point. We saw maybe 4 other people the entire time. It was very enjoyable.
We had lunch at a local restaurant which was really good. The bok choy was amazing.
We then went to what would normally be a crowded tourist location but because this was the late afternoon portion of the trip there were very few people there - maybe a dozen. I can only imagine how crowded it was earlier in the day - a place with a gondola. The hike up was about 20min and you definitely want to be ready for climbing some steps. The views were well worth it.
Last but not least, our guide Leo really made it all the more exceptional. He is very knowledgeable about the history of the wall and China in general. He has a great sense of humor and we talked about many more things than just the wall. He’s also a pretty good photographer. :)

Our guide and driver are both incredibly friendly and helpful. The tour consists of two segments - one for Gubeikou, which is less well maintained, and one for Jinshanlong, which is better maintained, both are cool and the contrast is very interesting. Neither segment is crowded and for long stretches of time we’d be the only people around, which was great.

I’m so very glad I booked this tour! My main focus was to walk as much of the walk as possible & I got the best of both worlds - old & new. The BEST part about it was the lack of tourists clogging up the view 🙌 it was really peaceful & I got the most iconic pictures - dreams really do come true 😎 I can’t remember my guides name now but she was fabulously informative & answered all my questions 👍

We had an amazing day with Adele and our driver. It was very cool to see two different, less touristy parts of the wall - there were hardly any other people there. Adele speaks great English and is very knowledgeable. Lunch was delicious and they catered to our vegetarian request. Highly recommend this tour! Thank you!

Wonderful experience from start to finish. Had both sections of the wall almost to ourselves. Our guide, Adele, was excellent, telling us the history of the wall and guiding us on the hikes (take trainers or walking shoes - it’s mainly good underfoot but there’s a bit of scrambling and uneven ground on the non-renovated section). Food provided at a local restaurant was fantastic. Last, but not least, the driver was excellent and was there at the end of each hike with ice cold bottles of water! Worth every penny.

Awesome private hiking tour between gubeikou and shinjanling.
Leo is a great host and very flexible, we initially started the hike in the rain and he adjusted the course so that we would not walk 4 to 5 hours under the rain.

However the weather drastically improved after 30 mins and he called the driver to change pickup point as originally planned.

We had a terrific hike, mostly alone on the wall until the very end. It was simply incredible.

We arranged the tour on our own after email communication, he picked us up on time with the driver at our hotel.

To note that Leo has great english communication skills, being able to have interesting discussion was definitely a huge plus point as well.

This is definitely a 5 star experience!! Our guide, Leo, was personable, knowledgeable and helpful. The two areas of the Great Wall we visited were beautiful and very peaceful. Their description about being alone in the wall is true - we were the only people on the areas of the Great Wall we hiked for the vast majority of the tour. Be prepared for a lot of walking and hiking/stairs but every step was well worth it. The driver was professional, safe and friendly. Clean and comfortable car. I appreciated that they supplied water, antibacterial hand wipes and toilet paper. Leo made sure we stopped at good restrooms when needed (also highly appreciated!) and the lunch was a nice break in between the hikes with really good food, including beer if you chose!

I had a wonderful experience on this private tour of the Great Wall. Since my first visit to the Great Wall in 2010, I always wanted to hike more of the Great Wall. This tour did not disappoint in any way. The tour guide personalized the tour to my requests. Highly recommend

Adele was a fantastic tour guide. We went to both the old and restored parts of the great wall. Adele's English was great and she was so knowledgeable about the history. The food at the restaurant was great too! Very convenient car ride and great experience all around. Once in a lifetime
