Everyone always wants to jump on and ride fast when they’re with horses, and that’s exactly what our advanced ride is for. Experienced riders can kick up the energy a little and have a horseback adventure in a truly spectacular natural setting—Oahu’s North Shore. Guided by one of our wranglers, you’ll strike out onto technical trails and across open pastures, passing grazing cows who just might sneak a peek to see your skills!
This ride involves trotting and cantering, and it’s important that all participants have previous riding experience. Wranglers will assess riding skills and will base the pace of the ride on the skill level of the least experienced rider in the group. Our wranglers are well-trained and ready for anything, so as long as you have the horse skills needed, you’ll have a fun and safe experience.

My daughter went on the advanced trail ride. It was the most amazing experience for her. She rides English at home and couldn’t wait to do a more challenging ride here in Oahu. Her guide was incredible, Talei and Remi took her on the most incredible adventure at the north shore. Highly recommend !

Gunstock Ranch's guide, Isa, and horse, Mowgli, were a joy. The Horsemanship Experience that I signed up for was catered to my skill sets in the arena and out on the trail. We were able to pick up the pace as trail conditions allowed.

I had a great ride with Connor the wrangler and Joey the horse. It was my fourth time this fall and we went on alot of different routes. Its such a beautiful place to ride with varied terrain, some in forest, some up and down meadows with a great ocean view from the top of the hills. Super nice people and obviously loved horses. The drive north along the coast is a scenic bonus.

My friend and I did the advanced trail ride and had an amazing experience! Ava was our tour guide who was very knowledgeable and did an amazing job. The scenery was beautiful and they paired us with great horses (Buckles & Bud) who were very well-trained and well-taken care of. We were able to canter for a significant portion of the trail ride as well as trot. It was an experience we won't ever forget.

This was the perfect horseback experience -- gorgeous views of mountains on one side and the ocean on the other, really funny, attentive guides (Lillian and Makenna!) who shared lots if interesting facts, took great photos, and seemed to be genuinely having so much fun it was contagious! We were able to go at our own pace through trots and canters and even got some helpful tips on riding. Would love to come back and would highly recommend!

Arrived at Gunstock Ranch without a reservation (on a slow day) and were lucky enough to book an advanced trail ride with Mackenzie. Beautiful setting for a ride through the hills and valleys. My wife and I were both experienced riders but more than a few years ago. Gavin was a great guide and took us up and down, at a walk, trot and canter (several times) during the ride offering quite a bit of information on the local flora, fauna and rock formations. We saw wild hogs on the ride. It started to rain at the end of the ride but it was all fun. Thanks to the staff for a fun afternoon.

We booked the advanced ride. Our guide was Trinity and she paid close attention to how my husband and I rode and took the time to give clear instructions and to monitor if we were following those directions properly. The horses were well trained but clearly lively too. Great experience. We have been to Gunstock before and have booked another visit for next month, so clearly we think it's a great place.
