This tour is ideal for the tourists who would like to know about the turbulent past of South Africa and transition to democracy and how the democracy is protected. You will get to know the old days of South Africa and also how the various law processes have shaped the current society. Apartheid Museum combines the oppression of the black people by the minority and what really transpired during the harsh apartheid era.

My rating is for the tour, not the museums. They were very good. The trip was effectively a taxi ride with a few landmarks pointed out. Our guide Michael was a very nice fellow, but he kept looking at his mobile which was sitting on the front passenger's seat, while driving. In a country where road safety is questionable, this was very disconcerting. If you can make your own way to the museums safely yourself, then entry is quite cheap. It was also supposed to be an estimated 8 hour trip, which lasted less than 6.

Our tour guide, Nosipho, was the absolute best! She is knowledgeable, personable and very accommodating. We really enjoyed our time in Johannesburg because she made our experience worthwhile.
The sites visited are a must see as they provide insight into the psychological horrors of apartheid and what the South Africans endured. So pleased that this period is over and the country and its people are on the mend.

Both sites are definately worth visitng, especially the Apartheid Museum. The driver is good too.
However, this 'tour' is actually only transportation between your hotel and the two places, and the entrace ticket isn't that expensive. So if your hotel can arrange a car or taxi for you, no need to join a tour. You would have a bit more flexibility.
