In this 120-minute activity held at "Yushinkan Kyoto," a katana dojo that regularly teaches 20+ students, anyone can learn how to draw, hold, wield, and sheath the katana from the modern-day Miyamoto Musashi.
Watching the samurai master’s skills who has been training 20+ years and actually getting your hands on a real katana to chop mats will be an experience you will never forget.

Unlike most of the "samurai experiences" that we saw online, this is associated with an actual school. I booked this for my wife, who has about a year of kumdo training, and my daughters. It was their favorite experience for our whole trip to Japan. Consider this an entry-level class rather than just a tourist experience.

This was one of the coolest experiences I had visiting Kyoto. My friend and I watched Shogo’s mat chopping YouTube video and decided to come to Japan. We had an excellent time and learned a lot of great techniques from master Yushin and Shogo. We ended up doing the samurai experience, and the photos they took for us wearing the armor turned out so awesome, it was totally worth it. Thanks for taking so many great photos for us, my friend and I really enjoyed this experience. From your friends in Taiwan, Mike and Vic.

We really enjoyed the personalized lesson in wielding a katana in Japan. The only thing I would change is more lesson time with these knowledgeable modern day samurai.

My 13 year old son loved this training! Very professional crew. Not a tourist attraction but instead for those who truly are interested in the samurai way. I left him at the training by himself. There were two instructors and 5 other students. I came back just in time to see his final demonstration. So glad I booked this!

This was a highly professional and enjoyable experience. The team of instructors was top notch and it took place in a real dojo, so you knew you were getting an authentic experience. Highly recommend when visiting Kyoto.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a training course on samurai culture, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The teacher was incredibly informative and knowledgeable, providing deep insights into the historical, cultural, and social aspects of the samurai. Their expertise was evident and recommend choosing them for your samurai training if you want an expert showing you how to use a Katana knife. Highly recommended for enthusiasts and newcomers alike!

Excellent Samourai experience. Authentic, provided by a real samourai trainer. You get a real training, not a tourist show. You can cut 2 tatami mats, even our 13 year old daughter could perfectly perform the cutting. Very secure. Excellent communication. A must-do when you are in Kyoto! Thank you Shogo and team!
