Join us as we explore the largest indoor market in Hungary, gather fresh ingredients, and then head over to our nearby apartment for a hands-on cooking session and cultural immersion.
We'll start by meeting up at the iconic Central Market Hall of Budapest. From there, we'll take a short walk around the market, chatting about Hungarian history, cuisine, and culture while tasting some of the flavorus of Hungary!
After the Market, we head over to our apartment, where a selection of mouth-watering snacks, like sausages, salamis, dips, and cheeses waiting for us before we get to it!
Then, it's time to roll up our sleeves and get cooking!

Our host, George, was amazing! He led us thru the Main Market and bought all the fresh ingredients for our chicken paprikash with dumplings. Great instructions on how to cook the dinner, which included wonderful local wines. Got to walk thru the local neighborhood. Kitchen was very clean and had all the space and tools to prepare the dinner and eat it. Great hands on experience. A most highly recommended experience!

Loved this experience! You learn so much more than just about food - history, culture, & lifestyle in Budapest. It's great to walkthrough the market with a local! The dish we cooked was soo tasty and everyone was so friendly and nice. Great activity for a solo traveler! We got to taste tons of wine and some other products. The only note, is for the price I wish we made an appetizer and a main dish. We made the chicken dish and there wasn't a ton to do for it so I wish it was a little more hands on!

A fun and educational afternoon with George! Started with a market stroll where we learned about different types of Hungarian foods and then the cooking class at a nearby air conditioned apartment with a beautiful kitchen. My teenage daughters and I had a great time and highly recommend this experience.

Our host George was terrific. So personal and informative. We learned a lot about local foods and history while we walked around the grand market and George select the fresh ingredients for our meal. Together our group laughed, learned, cooked and enjoyed a traditional Hungarian meal. We highly recommend George of Foodapest and encourage everyone to taste the country you visit with these types of adventures.

I truly enjoyed the time with George and my three fellow guests. He is informative and engaging during the market visit in which we sampled various pickled fruits and vegetables. Going to his apartment to cook our meal was the highlight of the excursion. George makes you feel comfortable enough to try unusual sausages (you’ll have to experience it yourself). After a couple of glasses of wine, we all participated in the preparation of our pork goulash and dumplings. Everything was delicious! It was a fun time.

What an absolutely amazing afternoon! Great tour of the market and to head back and cook authentic food in his kitchen. George was an amazing tour guide, host and cook! We will never forget this experience!! And trying to replicate the meal already!

George was a wonderful host to our 10 person group. We met him at the market where he provided a great introduction, purchased the food and provided a quick history and toast with Polinka. It was a short walk to his nice apartment where we all participated in preparing and cooking a delicious meal of chicken Paprikas. Overall a great afternoon and I highly recommend it.

We really enjoyed shopping at the Central Market, learning about some of the history of Hungary and the different foods and spices used in Hungarian recipes.

My mother and I enjoyed the experience very much. It was authentic and done in a lovely relaxed environment. The food had beautiful aromas, I am sure to make it for my family at home. I would highly recommend!
