In addition to being a private tour, not sharing transport with other people.... touridenorthportugal always try to avoid the more commercial places / wineries, or those with too much movement, looking for the most picturesque and familiar ones to somehow get closer to the genuine Portuguese culture.
You won't just have a tour guide but a friend to introduce you to a region that we are proud of. The meal that we will present to you is of very good quality with wines that need no introduction and we always try to satisfy the needs of our visitors.

Márcio is very knowledgeable about port, wine, the best local bars, patisseries, restaurants, etc. He started our day with a good pastry at a local bar, and made sure we had the best wine and port tasting at both wineries. He was patient with all our questions, and even took us to a promenade along the river when I requested a 10-minute walk in between the wineries.

This tour was definitely a highlight of our trip to Porto. Communication with Márcio was great; we knew exactly what to expect beforehand. He picked us up from our hotel, and on the drive to the Douro valley, after treating us to cappuccinos, Márcio shared his extensive knowledge of Portuguese wine, food, and culture. Here’s where it pays to book a private tour— the drive up to the first winery we visited was up a windy, steep drive that could not be made by a larger sized tour group. The view and staff of this small winery were spectacular, and the wine was even better. We were kicking ourselves afterward for only purchasing one bottle. My husband and I had our own private tasting table in front of the window, apart from a tour group, and we were given higher-end and additional wines to taste. We were very well tended to at the second winery we visited as well. We made several other stops in various nearby towns that added to the the local experience. Márcio genuinely ensured we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves the whole day. This tour was authentic, did not feel the least bit touristy, and would not have been the same without Márcio. As a side note, I am a vegetarian, and Márcio ensured that I had ample food options at each stop.

We had a full day tour of the Douro valley with two wine tastings with Marcio. He was an experienced and knowledgeable guide who ensured we got to experience as much as possible and took us to see some places which are not on the tourist track. The whole day was fantastic! Thank you Marcio!

This tour was an incredible day, one of the best of our stay in Portugal. Marcio is a gentleman and a scholar. Knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, and fully prepared to fill your day with the beauty of the Douro Valley, its incredible wine, and some special surprises. We had exclusive tastings, a fantastic authentic lunch, and many other treats to delight the senses throughout our day. And so much wine… Thank you, Marcio!

Márcio was incredible! We learned so much about the wine industry in the grove valley and had a great time doing it. He is very knowledgeable and will also teach you about the history of the region.

The Douro Valley is a beautiful area to visit and a nice break from city travel and crowded tourism. Nice to have a knowledgeable guide and a private car. Visited and Toured two wineries, had a gourmet lunch, and stopped in a couple small towns for snacks, wine and photos. Highly Recommend this experience!

Our guide, Marcio, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the Douro Valley.
We not only had excellent wines-including Port, but a very tasty lunch in the area.
We highly recommend taking this tour as the scenery was like a calendar.

My husband and I had a great time touring Douro Valley with Marcio. The route he chose allowed us to see a lot of the stunning landscape, while never stopping in a place that was overly crowded or touristic. His choice of small, family-run wineries was perfect. The staff at each stop were also fantastic, friendly, and knowledgeable. We made it back to Porto with full hearts, heads, and bellies.

We had a great day tasting wine at three wineries. The wineries were artfully selected to give us a more personal and varied experience. We saw tour buses in the distrance but never got too close! Our "typical" local lunch was delicious with a variety of dishes to taste. Highly recommend this tour!
