Sixty-five kilometres south of Bogotá, going down through the mountains among the tropical vegetation, we find Fusagasugá, 1,700 meters above sea level, with an average temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. The gardens and coffee plantation of Hacienda Coloma offer a wide variety of orchids, along with different types of ferns, flowers and other tropical plants.

If you want to learn about the fascinating process of growing and producing the best coffee in the world, this is the place! In addition to a pretty colonial house in the old style of the coffee area, in a beautiful environment, you can enjoy the whole process of coffee production, with the guidance of a professional grower.

A visit to the local farmers market and a pleasant surprise for lunch complement this beautiful trip.

We loved our day with Henry. He picked us up at our hotel and we had about a three hour ride to the coffee hacienda. Along the way we were treated to delicious ice creams at a road side shop. Henry told us a lot about the history of Colombia as we drove. At the hacienda we had a wonderful experience and learned all about growing and processing coffee. At around 3 we had a fabulous lunch in an open air restaurant. Highly recommend this tour if you like coffee and any tour by Henry. He is just a wonderful guy and a good guide.

This was a memorable experience! Henry was an incredible guide who knows the city and the countryside inside and out. Cannot rave enough, from the coffee plantation experience, to the local market, to the street of graffiti and the local lunch which was more of a feast, I probably wouldn’t have loved Bogotá as much as I did if it weren’t for this tour. Traveling solo can make for awkward group tours, this is a superior alternative for a single person or small group that wants to cover a lot of ground and go at their own pace.
