I signed up for a private, customized tour of Egypt and Jordan through Cairo based travel agent Cairo Top Tours. Its partner for Jordan leg was Ready To Take Off (RTTO).
My experience with RTTO was the worst ever in my life and I travelled to more than 100 cities.
Right from the start, info about Jordan itinerary through Cairo Top tours was patchy. Questions like Wadi Mujib hike and how and what to expect or prepare were difficult to obtain. Basically left it to the good hands of RTTO to propose.
Upon my arrival from Cairo to Amman, I was asked to help deliver an envelope from Cairo Top Tours to RTTO. The person from RTTO met me in the Amman Airport and collected the envelop form me. He opened it, counted the cash in front of me and said the amount was short. Told him I didn’t open the envelope but he counted it repeatedly in front of me and said money was short. Even called an airport crew over and counted then said the same thing. I told him to call the company to clarify but he didn’t. Eventually I good the company to call him, and then he said to me “All is good”. No apology for accusing me of taking the money. I informed RTTO coordinator and she said it was normal for the staff to count the money being delivered. Really?
The remaining days were nightmares. Unprofessional service support from the RTTO office, rude and dishonest driver. Constant covert and overt request for tips or higher tips.
Example, visit to bazaar was in our itinerary but driver said not on his and if we wanted to go, he would send us there with our luggage bags and find our own way to hotel.
We had hiking at Wadi Mujib. The day before the driver said Wadi Mujib might be closed due to rain. Told him to check but no news from him. In the morning I asked hotel to check and it was opened. When he picked us at the hotel, he said Wadi Mujib was closed but he would bring us to see other sights. Surprised, I told him to call the visitor center but he said hard to call through. I went back to hotel to check, viola! Hotel called through immediately and confirmed it was opened. Insisted the driver to send us there and we had the best experience. RTTO coordinator said it was normal for Wadi Mujib to close due to weather. Again, what response is this?
For all the programmes arranged by RTTO, the drivers always rushed us, sometimes only 15mins for lunch. But mysteriously we had time to visit souvenir and craft shops.
Despite feedback to RTTO, the coordinator seemed to defend the programme execution, actions and behaviors of the driver.
There was also constant covert and overt requests for tips, or larger tips.
This was the most stressful tour I ever had because I had to constantly be on my alert to manage driver, make sure the agreed itinerary was carried out, confirm and research programmes on my own and fend off more than necessary tips.
I don’t suggest using RTTO to anyone. They are Definitely Not Ready for Take Off.

We flew into Amman airport and were immediately welcomed and taken care of by a RTTO representative, before heading to our hotel for a good rest. Our driver-guide (Ahmet) was always punctual, efficient, informative and attentive to our wishes. The programme we covered was exactly the one we had signed for. The tour was very interesting throughout and I would recommend it to anyone. And one last important point : the people in Jordan are ever so nice, polite and welcoming that it would be a shame not to follow through with your intention to visit, despite the ongoing war in some neighbouring countries. Jordan in a very safe place, and there is no reason whatsoever not to come and see for yourselves.

RTTO Travel Agency provided a very satisfying service for me to visit Jordan's wonderful tourist attractions for four nights and five days from October 5. The travel schedule for visits to Petra, Wadirum, Deadsea, and Nevo Mountain, and the nice hotel allocation, driving service and the airport's pick up and drop off support service were perfect.
