This small group tour lasts for 5-6 hours. During months with evening darkness, we are hunting clear skies within the area around Tromsø. The excursion starts at 7 p.m./19:00 and the drive can take us in all directions when heading out and away from the city lights.
On some days we don´t have to go very far and can enjoy more time outdoors, while on other days we have to work a bit more and do a proper "hunt" to get what we are looking for. We do see some light on most days that we are out, but there are of course no guarantees - this is a natural phenomenon.
During the evening, we make several stops to look - sometimes the lights are directly over us. Usually, if the weather and lights permit it we do a longer stop with a bonfire, a pre-prepared meal (a portion of soup/stew), and a hot drink.
This is a proper small group tour with a maximum of 6 guests pr. tour this season.

Reidar was a great host and guide! Cloudy and rainy all day, our 7-person group clung to hope and set out from Tromsø to chase the lights! Reidar found open sky and a secluded area away from other tour groups, lit a fire and set out food and drinks, and took professional grade photos he sent to us for FREE! AMAZING! We had the most incredible time! Reidar was the most wonderful guide, we can not say enough positive things about him! He was very upfront and honest with us about the weather conditions from the beginning, and luckily the weather cleared by the time our tour was about to begin. We drove for a couple hours in search of the perfect area with a clear gap in the sky. Reidar had a perfect location, private with just our group. We had a BREATHAKING light show— will never forget it as long as we live! Reidar provided a warm fire, great food, and yummy hot drinks and desserts. I would recommend Reidar’s tour to absolutely anyone!! You can tell he really loves what he does and it is his mission to give everyone the best possible experience! We had a blast, thank you Reidar!!!

Reidar is the best guide you can imagine. We drove almost 2 hours but he found the nordic lights for us. Set up a bonfire and served good food and hot tea. It was a fantastic tour. Thank you Reidar.

We dreamed of seeing the Northern Lights during our visit to Tromso, this was clearly our main objective. Thanks to Reidar this dream came true on 4/1/2024. he took great care of us throughout our hunt because the night was cold and was full of attention for our 10 year old boy. We saw stunning Northern Lights throughout the evening. Reidar made us a bonfire and provided us with hot drinks and hot sandwiches. The experience was fabulous and we had the feeling of sharing a unique moment that will remain engraved in our memories in very good company. I absolutely recommend Reidar and THE ARTIC MOMENTS!!!

I went on this northern lights hunt the 3rd of January with a group of four other persons and Reidar as our guide. It was a perfect experience. Not only because we were lucky enough to have clear starry skies and the Northern Lights were spectacular, but also due to Reidar himself, a warm caring and knowledgeable guy. He is also a good photographer who beautifully immotalized these moments. I highly recommend him and will definitely call him in on a next trip to the region. Big thanks to him.

If you are planning for the once-in-a-lifetime northern lights hunt, Reidar would be your best choice!!
Being so foreign to this cold country like us, Reidar was always ready to answer all sort of our questions and it had eliminated our uncertainties before the excursion and provided us sense of security. Moreover, Reidar kept tracking of the weather condition and flexible to change date for a higher possiblity to the northern light hunt - it was a wise move as we had an amazingly clear sky night!
Reidar is meticulous, punctual, reliable and respectful. He planned everything well ahead, took care of everything, gave us choices and listened and answered to all our curiosity! Everything was free and easy and he was sweet as he observed and understood what you might need!
We learnt how to observe the sky and take picture of the lights; experienced having a bonfire by the sea under a cold weather with a beautiful starry sky + northern lights! Of course, he took care of our stomach too!
We don't know what we could ask anything more from him as it was a perfect experience with him. The most wonderful part is we can just be ourselves throughout the excursion so it's especially comfortable for us! Not only what we had during the trip, it was also Raider's quality as a person perfecting the whole experience!
