WHAT TO EXPECT
1.
Japanese fan-making experience.
This is one of my favorite experiences in Japan. Making a fan might look easy, and some of it is, but I guarantee you won't breeze through this experience haha. With this experience, you will get to make and take home a traditional Japanese fan AND take home a Japanese Folding fan of your choice!
2.
Rickshaw sightseeing experience.
Japanese Rickshaw drivers are some of the friendliest people you will encounter in Japan! This is a fantastic way to really feel immersed in traditional residential areas while learning the deep-rooted history of Tokyo.
3.
Edo-Kiriko experience
If you are a fan of symmetry, this is the one for you. Edo Kiriko is the traditional art of decorating glass cups and wares. Come and experience the stunning art of minimalistic colors and shapes! How do they do it? I guess you'll have to experience it yourself and find out!
4.
Hand-crafted Japanese chopstick-making class
As a half-Japanese person, when one of my team members suggested this I didn't really think it would be that good of an experience. I mean chopsticks are just pieces of wood that have been cut, right? Not at all! There is so much that goes into making the perfect pair of chopsticks. So much careful craftmanship and the irreversible decisions! This experience is a great representation of the Japanese methodology of perfection and one that I highly recommend.
5.
Traditional Japanese lantern-making class
Japan much like other countries did not have electricity until the late 1800's. Before this, we used candles and a lot of paper lanterns to disperse the light. Now, it wouldn't be Japan if they didn't overly decorate mundane things, would it? That's how fans and lanterns became synonymous with Japanese religious festivals! With this hole-in-the-wall experience, you will get hands-on with this relatively unknown art form and take one home with you.
6.
Traditional Japanese windchime-making class
Japan has a tradition of hanging glass windchimes during summer. It is said that the gentle note they produce makes people feel cool and relaxed during our hot humid summers. With this experience, you will get to not only paint but also blow your own glass windchime from scratch! This is a very fun and immersive experience that highly recommend for families with kids!
7.
Japanese food sample-making class
Ever notice all those cute and intricate food samples outside stores? Well in this class you can learn how to make them and take them home with you!
8.
Sumo lunch
This is the quick and fun way to experience sumo! Learn about their history, matches, training, and more! if you're up for it, you can even challenge them;)
9.
Tuna show
Watch a Japanese chef masterfully prepare an entire Tuna! yes, you get to eat it haha
10.
Jpanese tea ceremony
Enjoy a traditional Japanese tea ceremony in the heart of Tokyo.
