Leave Rome's city center in style, passing through the grand San Sebastiano gate in the 3rd century Aurelian Walls.

Start discovering the Ancient Appian Way, as it gradually transforms from a nearly anonymous Roman street into a uniquely preserved ancient thoroughfare, today set in the bucolic paradise that is the Appian Way Park.

In the 4-hour tour, a short pause to contemplate the massive burial underground, resting place to half a million souls. Please note: on Wednesdays, this stop is not included in the 4-hour tour. In the 6-hour tour, a 45-minute guided visit of these 2nd-century catacombs, in all their complexity and mystery! Note: On Wednesdays, the 6-hour tour will visit the Catacombs of San Sebastiano (instead of those of San Callixtus).

Admire the vestiges of an Imperial complex built in the 4th century A.D., consisting of a Villa, a Mausoleum and a Circus (a chariot racetrack venue).

One of the largest and best-preserved buildings on the Appian Way - this 1st century (A.D.) funerary monument was consecrated to the memory of a young girl from a patrician family.
6.
A sprawling 2nd century private Villa complex that used to belong to two of the richest brothers in Roman Imperial history. THIS STOP IS ONLY INCLUDED IN THE 6-HOUR TOUR.

See the colossal aqueducts and hear all about the massive system of underground and arch-borne water supply built for the city of Rome in antiquity.
8.
A wonderful 'pocket' of verdant valleys and hills in the suburbs of the Eternal city, the home of large sheep herds that graze on its pastures.

See the incredible Thermal baths of Caracalla from the best vantage point, and hear about the central importance that baths had for the social life of ancient Romans. THIS STOP IS ONLY INCLUDED IN THE 6-HOUR TOUR.

• Please note that approximately 40% of the route of this tour takes place in the city. We ride carefully chosen city streets, but some traffic is unavoidable to connect the Ancient Appian Way Park to the Aqueducts Park. In the remaining 60% of the route (riding in the parks) we encounter no traffic.
• You will cover an area of approximately 17 miles (27km), 60% of which takes place off-road. The difficulty level of this tour is intermediate (difficult with a child seat or child extension mounted on the bicycle).
• Infants under 1 year are not allowed to participate for safety reasons.
• Infants aged 1-4 years travelling on a child seat (with load capacity of up to 55 lbs or 25 kg) come on the tour free of charge
• For children aged 5-8 years a child extension (child streamliner) is provided.
• Children aged 9 and above can autonomously ride on an appropriately sized E-bike.
• Minimum of 4 participants applies (total number of participants on tour). There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are 3 or less passengers on the tour. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative for your tour or full refund.
• On Wednesdays, the route includes a deviation, so the tour may last up to half an hour longer (4.5 instead of 4 hours and 6,5 instead of 6 hours). The tours will be 30 minutes longer also in the period January 25 - February 20, 2024
• On Easter Sunday (March 31st, 2024), the Catacombs are closed (therefore, the 6-hour tour will not be running)
• This tour doesn't include any food or drinks; however, the route offers a few possibilities to purchase some food or drinks (which can be consumed during a suitable break).
• Are the tours safe? The answer is: Absolutely! The tours follow carefully planned routes which have limited access to traffic, and some have no traffic at all, meaning you are able to enjoy your ride around the city in total relaxation and safety and you won't have to worry about traffic
• We require that all customers wear a helmet on the tour (provided for free).
• Activity not recommended for travelers not self-confident on a bike.

The tour was very well run and if you’re looking for something a little different from the normal Rome tour this is the one.
Very safe route challenging at times by terrain but take your own time and you will be fine

We had an amazing time! My wife and I kind of “surprised” our 17 and 20 year old children. They were kind of nervous and apprehensive at first but then ended up having the best time. The living history experience we had was second to none. We’re grateful for the experience!

My family (me, husband, 17 year old, 14 year old, and 12 year old) just completed this tour in the heat of summer (June 2024). It was, by far, our favorite tour we have done on our trip to Italy! The staff is friendly and welcoming when you first walk in. They provide you with a good size bike bag for your belongings and a water bottle. There were many stops for water and in the shade. I would still recommend cooling towels for each person in your party. Our tour guide, Christian, was very informative, great at answering questions, and very personable! He also did a good job of easing my nerves about biking in the city and kept us all safe. If you want something different outside the city center this is the way to go! The perfect way to end our vacation!

The most incredible way to experience Rome! Even though it was a very warm day, the breeze from being on the ebike and being out in the countryside was perfect! Our guide was incredible and we loved the experience! The bikes are top notch as is the tour from start to finish!

Booked a small group tour. We're a family of 5 with very active boys, 17, 15 and 11. They had a blast. We saw a bunch of things we wouldn't have seen on our own. So nice to be outside of Rome city center and enjoying the greenery. We had such a great time despite it being over 100F and we had a few bike troubles. Our guide was very nice and patient with us. I also love how this is a real bike shop with lots of bikes to choose from. Im only 5'2" so I couldn't use the bikes that everyone else in my group is using. My only hesitation in booking this again is that I would book a private tour next time if it's available. I over estimated my biking abilities and the terrain was quite tricky. At first we had to bike through a few streets out of the city and did the same at the end. At the Appian trail, it was almost like off road biking, the road itself was rocky (think huge irregular cobblestones) and we had to bike on the dirt paths on the side. Overall, one of my kids favorite activities of our trip to Italy .

LOVED THIS TOUR. By far our favorite tour in Italy! 2 teenagers and 2 adults who have a short attention span, this tour kept you moving and learning. Also just a beautiful part of Rome a little less traveled.

Great way to visit the Appia Way and Aquaducts park- it’s something I never would have done on my own. The staff/mechanics were friendly and the guide was informative without overwhelming us with info. The bikes were in great condition Highly recommend for people looking for an active adventure!

This tour gave us a totally different perspective of the city. We saw things that we would not have known about at all. Our guide was AMAZING, knowledgeable, and kept everyone safe. He was aware of where everyone was at all times.

Beautiful and historical ride on the old Appian Road. So many beautiful and interesting sights along the way, and a great tour of the early Christian catacombs. Very knowledgeable guide and patient (made it safe). Powerful bikes made it easy to ride.
