Montserrat is a multi-peaked mountain range near Barcelona, in Catalonia. It is well known as the site of the Benedictine abbey, Santa Maria de Montserrat.
You will start your day 4,000 feet above sea level, in the spectacular Montserrat National Park. In this area, you will have the chance to explore some of the beautiful nature trails, admire the jaw-dropping 360° views of the countryside below, and take amazing pictures.
While at Montserrat, you can also visit the Benedictine Santa Maria monastery. This fantastic display of gothic architecture is over 1,000 years old and can be found nestled halfway up the mighty Montserrat mountain. If you are lucky enough to be visiting Montserrat on a weekday, then you can sit in on a performance from the Escolania all-boys choir. This is the oldest boy's choirs in the whole of Europe, and a great tradition in this area of Spain.
