We thoroughly enjoyed this amazing tour. Marta and Alonso were extremely
friendly and informative, and went to great lengths to accommodate our interests. It was easy to meet with them, and during the drive to the hatchery Marta was telling us about a variety of interesting things. When we arrived at the hatchery, we were introduced to Victor and Lupita who showed us around their glorious garden. Lupita cooked us a delicious meal, happily accommodating our vegetarian diet. We learned so much about Axolotls and even got to hold one. After we left, knowing we were interested in pulque, Marta and Alonso went out of their way to drive us to an Agave farm to pick some up, then we explored the local magic town of Tepotzatlan. I highly recommend this tour. Thankyou for the amazing day!

Had such a wonderful time, cannot say enough good things about this tour and the guides. They were very informative and easy to contact.

To start, we were supposed to take the tour on Tuesday, unfortunately, we all came down with the travel stomach bug. We reached out hoping to reschedule and were contacted immediately and given options. We were able to reschedule the tour for Friday. They were very helpful and understanding. Top-notch customer service.

We were picked up promptly at our hotel, and greeted by Martha and Alonzo. They were very friendly and genuinely excited about what they are doing. They covered everything we would be doing and explained the day. My daughter was very excited about the trip as she has an axolotl as a pet. They were very interested in hearing about her interest and eager to answer all questions she had. They were a wealth of information.

When we arrived at the location for the axolotls, we were greeted by the family that ran the operation. They are clearly passionate about their efforts to raise and assist in the conservation efforts of these extremely endangered animals. While the family did not speak English, the guides were able to translate and ask any questions we had. The amount of information they provided was fantastic. We were able to hand feed and hold the axolotls.

After visiting with the axolotls, we were provided a homemade lunch prepared by the family. I had some of the best ceviche I have ever tasted. Being Friday during lent, fish, rice, and hard-boiled eggs were on the menu. I wish I had paid more attention to the description and known we would have lunch as we had eaten a big breakfast, so my kids just weren't very hungry. I did my best to finish their portions as it was so good but lost the battle on the last couple. I hope they didn't think they didn't like it, as it was absolutely fantastic.

After the tour and lunch, we were offered the option to return back to the hotel or spend a little time in the town. We chose the latter and it was a great choice. We were given some free time to look around the local shops, and eat some really good homemade ice cream that was recommended to us. We were able to explore on our own, and they asked us how much time we would like to see the area before returning. We were never rushed and allowed to really take in and enjoy the area.

After relaxing in town for a while, we were on our way back to the hotel. I really can't say enough good things about this tour. If you are interested in axolotls, and enjoy a slow-paced tour where you are not rushed, and can have all your questions answered, with passionate tour guides, and a fantastic family-prepared lunch....book this tour, you will not regret it.

We booked this with no prior info as our 12-yr-old son is really into axolotls. We are happy to report this is a wonderful, off-the-beaten-track, family-friendly excursion that will delight environmentalists and curious tourists alike (we are both :)

The hosts are very kind, very friendly and knowledgeable people who have a deep love and passion for nature and conservation. The hosts at the conservation site are lovely, committed people who fed us a great local meal. There are so many axolotls at all stages of development and you can feed them if you want which made our son's entire trip. On the way back we had a chance to visit the amazing village of Tepotzotlan and its incredible church.

The hosts are also careful drivers and took us safely there and back to our hotel. We had a wonderful trip and are so glad we booked this tour! Note that this adventure is a bit rustic—you will be out in nature (though there is no difficult terrain and there is very little walking involved) so if you're looking for something luxurious this would not be right for you.
