I took public transport, which is cheap and efficient just to see the countryside around Allicante. First an hour tram trip to Murcia and the land/scenery was monotonous and unimpressive with scorched ground from the sun and vegetation sparse except for some small groups of (olive?) trees and an odd plastic tunnel presumably for market gardening. The second town was Bennidorm a 75 min trip each way, and the train ran by the seashore mainly and included 14 tunnels through rocks. Scenery was ok if you sit on the right side going there.
I don’t know what Murcia or Bennidorm are like as towns as I only stayed an hour or so. I visited the nearest Botanic gardens in Allicante and it was very small, had a nice waterfall, mainly palm trees and very few flowers (in end of June)…not impressed at all! I concluded there’s little to see around Allicante. You have expensive restaurants, friendly people, cheap taxis and noisy night festivals (end of JUNE) but you do have heat, sun and sea depending on your location of course!.

We sent a very interesting day with Rui. He was very well informed and made the walking tour very comfortable in a city like Porto. He took us for a local wine tasting and introduced us to a delicious local snack. Being born and brought up in Porto, He knew undisclosed locations. Thank you Rui and will surely reach out to you when we are in Porto again

We had an absolutely delightful time with Rui! From the moment we met him on our first day in Porto, he set the tone for the day with his playful jest, “I’m by the clock tower.” A perfect icebreaker to begin our adventure! Rui guided us on a leisurely stroll through Porto, weaving tales of the many illustrious writers and historical figures who had once walked the same streets.
With each step, he vividly recounted the stories of influential political figures and their lasting impact on the city. Rui’s passion for the arts, the rich history of Porto, and his deep love for Portugal shone through in every anecdote. By the end of the day, we felt as if we had spent time with an old friend, sharing laughter and uncovering the hidden gems of the city.
We eagerly look forward to reconnecting with Rui for another day of exploration and discovery when we return!

Rui is an interesting conversationalist who knows Porto and Portugal in many ways. What could be better than a company with a true Portugal fan? I recommend it.

We had the most amazing day in beautiful Porto with Rui! He is super knowledgeable about his city and the history. He took us to his favourite places with best views and delicious authentic food. We saw all the highlights of Porto and Rui sent great recommendations for the rest of our trip. Rui went above and beyond to make sure and not only make the most of our tour with him, but also the rest of our trip to Portugal. We strongly recommend his tour!

This was a great experience and I highly recommend people to take a tour as well. Whether alone or in group, it is deffinitely worth it! The host is incredibly nice and explained everything really well to us. Porto is a lovely city and it is with experiences like this you get to know the city's history :)

Few years ago, I met Rui. Me and my friend did couxhsuat his place. Still, when booking him I did not know that he will show us all hidden and nice places of Porto! Also adding cute stories to this! I am happy that he is not doing the tours officially!
