This magical walking tour is led by an award-winning Green Badge tour guide. It will introduce you to the extraordinary history and people who've shaped our city of dreaming spires. From Alice in Wonderland to JRR Tolkien, Oxford has inspired many timeless stories. But its real history is just as fascinating, and often just as strange…

As we walk around Oxford's famous buildings and explore its world-renowned university and colleges this glorious city will reveal its secrets to you.

This is a great tour if you only have a short time in Oxford or are visiting for the first time. I can tailor it to your interests so let me know if you are particularly interested in Harry Potter, Tolkien, CS Lewis, Morse, Alice in Wonderland etc. If you want to visit a specific college or the Divinity School you will have to pay an extra entrance fee - we can discuss the options when you book.

Jess made our tour to our demand. She’s very friendly and knowledgeable about Oxford and has stories that are not in the tourist books. So we enjoyed it very much!

We took a tour as part of a hen party, the majority of which had studied in Oxford - and we were all blown away by Jess's tour. None of us had any idea about athe wonderful tales from history she shared. She pointed out things we had all walked past a hundred times and never noticed, and unpacked their meaning in compelling and entertaining ways. It was a truly glorious few hours and I can't wait to come back with other friends and family for another perfectly tailored tour. In a city that can sometimes feel buried by cliché, choose Jess to see it brought to life in fresh and fascinating ways - you won't regret it.

My family of 6 (my husband and I and 4 kids) took had a wonderful 2 hour tour with Jess. I had actually studied abroad at Oxford 20 years ago and since we only had 1 day in the city, I didn't want to waste it meandering about lost. Well it was honestly like I had never been to Oxford before in my life! She shared and pointed out things I never knew! And she was so kind to tailor our tour to our personal interests (C.S. Lewis and Harry Potter). She's so warm and an excellent storyteller and kept even my rascally young boys entertained. I am going to recommend her to anyone I know visiting! It truly is a great way to get a quick in-depth overview of the city and then go back during your free time to the areas she recommends. Thank you Jess for such a lovely morning!

This tour was fantastic! I went with my parents and Jess told us a huge amount of interesting facts about Oxford, presenting them in a really fun, accessible way. I've lived in Oxford for 15 years and work for the university but she pointed out and explained so many things I've never noticed about the city. Jess was able to answer all our questions immediately and had so many things to tell us tailored to everyone's interests (Morse, literature, railways, political history). She took us to beautiful Merton college and showed us the oldest academic library in the world and really brought to live what it would have been like to be a scholar in Oxford 800 years ago. As we walked round it got dark, and the city became even more magical. As this tour is so personalised I'd recommend it as an activity to any group. Jess made me so excited about living in Oxford and sharing the city with friends and family :)
