A wonderful way to explore the Arctic landscape of Northern Norway!
Snowshoeing is a great means to immerse yourself in our wild nature and to traverse even the snowiest areas.
The scenic drive along the fjord makes a perfect beginning of the tour. At the destination our guide leads you to one of the summits on Kvaløya island or on the mainland. Relish the feeling of crunching over, rather than sinking into, the pristine snow. Great views over majestic mountains and fjords are the reward for the effort - we hike around 400 meters elevation to reach the top. Therefore the trip requires you to be used to physical activity, but previous snowshoeing experience is not required.
Wearing proper winter boots and warm clothes is a must on this tour.
We take good time for breaks to take photos, learn about the local nature and culture, and savor a hot drink and snack on route.

Amazing experience, the guides were great and guided us to the top telling also a lot of many interesting things. Recommended if you want to live an outdoor experience and see wonderful panorama 360 degree on mountains and fiords.

It was such an amazing experience & our guide, Mikkel, was really the best. He entertained us the whole climb with his knowledge on all sorts of outdoor excursions & history of Scandinavia. The lefse and hot drink was also an extremely nice touch once we summited the mountain and were able to see the stunning views.
10/10 recommend!!

This was one of the hardest hikes I have ever done...I had a great time, even during my lack of ability to breathe and wanting to give up. The view at the top is worth it.
But what I would say is missing from the details the company provided is the following - its about a 5 mile hike up and back. Yes you are walking up in snowshoes in deep snow (depending the time of the year, I went in Feb) it is a 1600ft elevation gain.
I am in relatively decent shape good shape, I work out 3-4x a week. I hike often (not in the snow) but I do hike 5+ miles with 1000ft+ elevation gains fairly frequently during the non-winter months. This one was a killer, just know that going into it. This is not a stroll in the park.
Lukkas was a great guide, he was patient with me and encouraged me to keep going.
I would do this again, but not during winter as I believe the snow on the ground made it a ton harder for me to get up.

I had a wonderful experience with Tromsø outdoor and their guided snowshoe hill hike. It was supposed to be a hiking experience on Kvaløya but unfortunately the weather forecast wasn't good and therefore our guide took us to another location. I had a blast! Cannot recommend this highly enough.

Highly recommended! We were very unlucky with weather, making for high avalanche risk at the intended hike location. But the Tromsø Outdoor team had a good backup hike taking us up smaller, less treacherous inclines, and around a lake. We are fit and healthy, and found the hike easy, but the views and our guide, Mikkel, made the whole experience totally worth it :)

My daughter and I booked this and it was BRILLIANT. Getting out into the snow was a lot of fun and our guide, Mikkel, was very knowledgeable but also extremely passionate about the tour, the company, and the area we were in. I’m so glad we did this… you are in the very heart of the natural environment and achieving things too. 10/10!
