The Anghel Saligny Bridge (formerly King Carol I Bridge) is a railroad bridge in Romania, across the Danube River, connecting the regions of Muntenia and Dobrogea. The bridge was built between 1890 and 1895 over the Danube, it became the longest bridge in Europe and the second-longest in the world. The bridge was designed by the Romanian engineer Anghel Saligny.

After a 3 hour ride on the highway you will reach your first stop: the seafront in Constanta. Take a walk here breathing the salty air, watching the ships that enter the port and admiring the old building of the Casino. This is the most important place for promenade in the city and after a few steps you will know why.

Your second stop will be in the city center of Constanta. Here, the guide will show you all the elements that create this charming places: narrow streets, old buildings, roman ruins and other surprises. This way you will also feel a small part of the foreign influences that shaped Constanta during time: Greek, Roman, Turkish etc. You can also stop here for lunch.

The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, Constanța. Is the seat of the Romanian Orthodox Archbishop of Tomis. Situated between Ovid Square and the Black Sea in front of the Archbishop's Palace, it was built on the city's peninsular zone in 1883-1885 following plans by architects Alexandru Orăscu and Carol Benesch and, for the interior, Ion Mincu. The cornerstone was laid on 4 September 1883 and the church was consecrated on May 22, 1895.

The Grand Mosque of Constanța stands on the site of the former Mahmudia Mosque, built-in 1822. The Grand Mosque of Constanța was commissioned in 1910 by Romanian King Carol I. Construction began on 24 June 1910

The Museum of National History and Archeology Constanța has a history of over a hundred years After 1877, the extension works of the city of Constanța led to the discovery of important ceramic, statuary, epigraphic, numismatic vestiges, all attesting the place of the ancient Tomis in the ancient history of the country.

The Roman mosaic building was discovered during the works undertaken in 1959 in the historic center of Constanța. The Roman Mosaic, with almost 2,000 square meters of mosaic, erected in the 4th century AD, probably under the reign of Emperor Constantine the Great, instead of some earlier port buildings, was repaired in various stages until the beginning of the 7th century, when it ends its existence with the departure of the ancient fortress of Tomis, after the great invasions.

The Great Synagogue of Constanța is a disused former Ashkenazi Synagogue the Jews community called "Polish Synagogue" The Synagogue was built between 1910 and 1914 in a Moorish Revival architectural style on the site of an earlier synagogue, erected in 1867/1872.

You will spend the last part of the tour in Mamaia, the star of night life in Romania. During summer, here is the center for parties, fun and night life. But in the day light, Mamaia is a beautiful seaside resort with gold, sandy beaches and clear water. Probably it will convince you to spend a whole holiday here.

Travelling time from Bucharest = 3+3=6hrs

Vehicle : Dacia, very uncomfortable, noisy and wind noise on the highway ++
Sites visited: one old mosque (parts of which are covered with moss), two churches, one town square, and Constanta - none of these were aesthetically pleasing or outstanding that would justify the trip. Other than the port area of Constanta (with the Casino and promenade), rest of the town was sleepy and derelict. The houses, streets absolutely nothing was exceptional or pleasing to the eye and do not understand why this place would be deemed as a tourist destination.
Next we went to Mamaia beach resort. The empty car park and deserted shingle beach is testament to the fact how interesting and beautiful this place is.
Throughout the trip I never felt the need to take out my SLR camera, just took a few snaps on my phone.
Overall: this trip was the most expensive one that we booked in our Romanian holiday, and was the least satisfying; value for money - zero.
I cannot really understand how the tour operator manages to sell this private trip and get away with it. The type of car that they provided was indication of how well they look after their customers who book private trips. I have requested Viator to remove this trip from their list. I regularly book trips through Viator, and this is the first time I have felt that the trip has been mis-sold and I felt cheated.

We were completely unfamiliar with Constanta and were surprised with it's beauty and history of the area. It was a great trip. Vlad had a good knowledge of the area, it's history and was very accommodating to us.
